Simple Elephant Planner v. Panda Planner
I have both the Panda Planner and the Simple Elephant Planner. I like both, but I prefer the Simple Elephant planner. The panda planner is really nice. It's got a nice hard cover that feels elegant and nice, heavy paper. It's somewhat like a journal and planner all in one. What I don't like about it, is that it is only 3 months, and for the price, I feel like it should be a full year. Also, there are parts of it that I'm not sure what to do with, so I just use those spaces to take notes, or I would end up wasting the space entirely. Additionally, it comes with videos and a lot of what I consider to be spam mail. I don't feel like I should have to watch videos or get spam mail to use a planner. The goal is to get organized, not waste time learning how to use the planner. In the weekly section of the planner, I do like the project planning page sections and the goal sections. I can take or leave the last week review sections. I do not care for the planning upcoming week sections, because it is just too cumbersome to fill out every week. My family/work/personal/relationships all sort of overlap, and I don't have that much to say/do, really. Habits, learning, and passion projects are all incorporated into my weekly schedule, so I feel like those pages and sections are just kind of wasted space. In the monthly section of the planner, again, I feel like there is just too much to write. I appreciate the planning section with the goals to accomplish and the distractions to avoid, but I don't care for the review section of wins and insights gained. In the daily section, I like being able to set priorities, having the schedule and task lists, and even the end of day review. I don't care for the morning review. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with the affirmation section or the exercise section, and again, I don't want to watch a video or read a mini-book to figure it out. A sample page filled out in the beginning of the planner would have been nice. The Simple Elephant: The cover is not nearly as nice. It is still a hard cover, but it's kind of a soft hard cover and the planner overall feels cheaper in quality, and in fact, is lower in cost. The pages are about half the weight of the pages in the Panda Planner, and the overall feel is not as elegant. It has the same basic assembly as the Panda Planner with three ribbons to mark your place, and the elastic to hold it closed. It has one "Focus" section at the beginning of the planner, so instead of a daily or weekly focus, you set out yearly goals. Here is where they put their affirmation and "grateful for" sections. These still are not necessary to me, but at least they only take up one page, and I don't have to look at them everyday. Monthly sections are simple with just the month, goals, and space to write notes. Weekly sections consist of the week with goals for the week, successes and what can be done better. I like this a lot better than having an entire "weekly review." Also, the Simple Elephant has the entire week right in front of you, where the Panda Planner has one day per 2 pages. Which is kind of frustrating if you have an actual schedule you need to follow. Furthermore, in the Panda Planner, your weekly reviews are in a separate section from the daily views, so it's not very logically laid out. Had I designed the Panda Planner, I would have done the weekly view, with 7 daily views immediately following. All in all, they are both great planners with great features. If you're looking for more of a journal, then you may want the Panda Planner. If you are looking for a planner to keep you on task, without all of the work and fluff, then I would go with the Simple Elephant.

Great, even if just starting out with using a planner
For many years I have used my phone to keep organized, and it worked great. But I got to the point where I had far too many tasks, across many different jobs, not to mention home, and I wanted to try a paper planner to help me get a better visual idea of what to do for who and when. I looked at a lot of different planners - for someone just wanting to see if this system would even work out, most are pretty darn pricey. And many others just have too much 'fluff'. I decided on the elephant planner because it had a good price, and didn't look like it's the whole purpose was to make me feel good about myself and do mini-scrapbooking and journaling every day. Using a simple pack of multi-colored pens, I was quickly able to set up a system that worked for me in the elephant planner. Pros: - The pages are laid out well, with plenty of room. - The cover is sturdy, and the pages secure (I'm rough as heck on it, and it's holding up great) - Note pages! Pages and pages and pages of blank, LINED pages - and each page NUMBERED. Perfect! You can start different types of notes in different places and write yourself a handy index at the front - A handy pocket on the inside back cover, which I'm sure is meant to hold stickers, or receipts, or other such things, but I put my pack of pens in there and it works well. - I use fountain pens, and I was worried they or markers would bleed through, but they don't. The paper is thick and good quality, I've not had either my fountain pens or markers bleed through, and the pens glide smoothly on the grain. I'm also very heavy-handed (one of the reasons to switch to fountain pens, in case anyone reading this has the same problem...far less hand fatigue compared to other pens- you don't need to apply any pressure at all while writing), and when I had to make a note with a regular pen the pages didn't dent badly or scrape/tear like tends to happen on other paper types. - Undated, so you can start as soon as you get it, no wasted pages, no waiting another month or three for the year to end. Keep in mind undated means you will need to go ahead and set yourself aside a little block of time so you can fill it in, at least the monthly pages, before you start using it daily. Cons: - Ribbon markers. I wish each ribbon was a different color. The matching color makes the planner look nice, but I find myself just wanted to grab the marker for a section quickly, and I think different colored ribbons would shave a second off my logging time. This doesn't even warrant dropping a half star from my rating though. - weekends have half as much room in the weekly planning section than weekdays. This seems to be the norm for weekly planners, so no specific complaints about this product, but I'm sure there are many others out there who have just as many tasks and goals on Saturday and Sunday as they do Monday through Friday. I just write extra small and put in 2 lines of writing of every single line provided. I have been very happy with the elephant planner - and will probably get another when I finish with this one.

Flexible formatting offers unique planning
I love using this planner. I had never seen planners that weren’t absolutely rigid by design. This planner has monthly and weekly planning sections, along with tons of lined paper to take notes on. The hardcover exterior feels very durable while remaining slim. The pages are thick, easy to turn, and there is plenty of room for writing within the spaces of the various layouts. I love the ribbons that keep your place within the sections. This is probably the best designed planner I saw as I searched for one for this year. The only con is the pen loop. Mine tore off within the first month because it is actually only held within the binding by a small amount of material and a little glue under the paper lining. This was a bit upsetting, as this was a feature I desired. It ensured I always had a pen on me, as our writing utensils tend to float within bags or work spaces. This was not a complete deal-breaker for me, but I feel like there is an easy solution: just provide more secure support for the pen loop. It is going to be tugged on. Perhaps more of the loop can be held under the paper, or a combination of a staple or a stronger glue would solve the issue. Given that one improvement, I would be 100% satisfied with this planner. TLDR: If you’re less of a rigid planner, this is a wonderful option. Its flexibility makes it very useful for different types of planning styles. The planner is durable and thin, while maintaining plenty of space to plan and take notes. Just be careful with the pen loop. Overall, it’s a great planner and I would recommend it. I hope this review was helpful. Thanks for reading!

This thing is a game changer!
I've been diagnosed with anxiety, ADHD and OCD since I was in grade school, and while making goals is something I do often, it's extremely hard for me to actually work continuously towards the goals due to the natures of my mental illnesses. After mulling things over with my therapist, I ended up purchasing this agenda as a way to add a little structure to my life and hopefully even start working slowly towards achieving some of my personal goals. The book is beautifully designed, well laid out, and very thoughtfully put together. It's literally everything I wanted and more. The first few pages have places for quotes, mantras, mind maps, vision boards, and goal lists for yourself. This section is followed by a nice month-by-month calendar *with a blank header*, so you can put the dates in yourself (enabling you to start this agenda literally any day without having a half filled agenda at the end of the year) and record important at-a-glance type events. After that, there's a day-by-day section with blank dates, and the coolest part, a bar at the top of the page where you can write yourself a few small attainable goals for the week, a section on what your successes were, and a section to record what you can do better next time to get to your goals faster and more efficiently. This goes on until just about 20ish pages to the end, where the agenda simply becomes a lined journal. I've utilized this area to doodle, to jot down thoughts, to write to-do lists, and tons more. There are also 3 satin ribbon book marks which can be used to mark parts of the journal, a very useful tool for a scatterbrain like me! I've found this planner to be invaluable for myself. Every day, I write down how my mood was, any items of note, and my progress on my goals. It's worked well as a tool to bring to therapy since I so often forget when/what will trigger my OCD, and while you certainly don't need an OCD to appreciate this journal, I feel like this product is made perfectly for people who struggle with goal achieving. If you're on this page to find a planner, get this one. You'll definitely not regret it. The only minor gripe I have is that I'd personally like to see a few different color options for the cover since blue isn't my favorite color. Maybe just a red, yellow, green, blue and pink/purple? Regardless, it's well worth the blue color. GET IT!

Love the planner, customer service is top notch!
I like the layout of the planner and was impressed with the box it comes in -- very nice and elegant. However, when I opened the planner, I noticed that there was a huge dent in the pages. Every single page is bent in the corner from beginning to end. Quite disappointed so I will be returning. EDIT: Jen, from Papercode, immediately reached out following my review. She was professional, courteous, and offered to process my refund in addition to sending me a new planner free of charge. Jen was extremely easy to talk to and her responses were prompt. She said my planner would come in 3 days, but it took only 2 days for my new planner to come! Right in time to plan for the new year! My new planner is in perfect condition! Soft, smooth, royal blue cover with completely straight pages. I'm a bullet journal junkie and although I love designing my own pages, sometimes I just don't have the time. That's what drew me in to The Simple Elephant. I love that it's undated and it's set up similarly to how I like to set up my bullet journal. My favorite pages are the "My Focus" pages where you can write what you're grateful for, affirmations, and top 5 goals for the year. There's also space for a mindmap and vision board that I have yet to fill out, but am excited to! I also like to journal and take notes in my bullet journal, and The Simple Elephant has more than 50 lined pages in the back for journaling/notes! Some have noted that the pages are thin, which I can somewhat echo. I use a lot of color in my planning so I've written in The Simple Elephant with Microns, Sharpie pens, Crayola markers, and MyLifeUnit drawing pens. None of these pens bleed through to the next page, but they are a little visible. I only really have a problem if I go over what I've written twice -- which is to be expected with most paper, I think. So, that doesn't really bother me. I also don't find it difficult to get the planner to lay flat, which I've noticed is a concern in other reviews. Overall, this is a wonderful planner for those who like to get creative with their planning and don't want to shell out a large amount of money for other similar planners. And their customer service gets an A+!

Excellent Daily Planner!!
The Simple Elephant Papercode Daily Planner which states designed in NYC, crafted in China is FABULOUS!! I had one of these in 2019 & loved it! I purchased different planners since & I don’t know why! I was THRILLED to find the 2021-2022 daily planner on lightning deal one day. This planner is very special. It allows me to make it personalized & fun! I hope my pictures help so give you a true look inside it. It comes in a very nice black box. I purchased the blue & it’s rich in color. The pages are thick & do not bleed through. I love the pencil/pen holder on the outside of the planner as well as the 3 fabric book strings within it. The 1st page begins my journey into a new year. It then moves onto “MY FOCUS” which allows some self-reflection & 5 goals to set for the upcoming year. Next are 2 full blank pages entitled MY MINDMAP & MY VISION BOARD which allows me to be creative. Then it’s a month at a glance- 12 of these begins a year ahead. Heads up!- the entire planner is a you fill in the months & the dates. After the full month pages the weekly pages are broken down Monday~ Sunday. I love for each week there’s an area at the top for Goals, Successes & What I Can Do Better-reflection allowed come the end of the week. Cute little stickers are included. This planner is bound wonderfully. It’s evenly cut. I’d say what I received is nearly perfect. All the pages are smooth with no rough edges. The very back of the book has an area to slide some papers in if you like. What tops this off is there are blank lined pages after the calendar. The pages of the planner are numbered. There’s a total of 191 pages & pages 135-191 are all blank for my writing pleasure. I don’t know what else I could write that could reflect how awesome this planner is. I love it. It’s true quality & well worth the price. This doesn’t bend & the pages in between are well protected. It’s definitely durable. It is September 2021 but I’ll begin this come January 2022 & very much look forward to it! I hope all of this gives you a great idea of what you’ll get if you purchase this. I’d say this won’t disappoint. I highly recommend!

Good little planner; Has good things but pages are thin
I haven't had a paper planner in several years, so I did take some time to research. And this is the only one I've purchased (so far). My biggest complaint is the thickness of the paper. I used gel pens to make notes, and the bleed-through is a bit too obvious for me. I wanted to be able to color-coordinate things, and I use a lot of gel pens to do this rather than a traditional ink pen. Unfortunately, the bleed-through really bugs me. The pros of this planner: Great portable size, no rings on the outside to get snagged or take up space, nice sturdy/quality cover (so far), undated so could start now (November) vs waiting until January, 1 week is spread between 2 pages, unstructured week format so I can make my own custom notes, and a TON of notes pages at the back for misc. notes. Although I do really like the size, and this is more a personal preference thing, I do wish I had more room to make notes/set goals on a weekly basis, and might have been happier with a bigger planner, which may lead me to keep shopping. But this one is definitely very simple, no extra frills/fluff that you get with a lot of planners (and often takes the price way up) and for someone with a straightforward approach, may be completely sufficient.

More like having a new friend in my bag every day than just a planner
I'm not someone who has ever used a planner (or written an Amazon review, for that matter), so I can't compare this one to any others, but I do think it is very, very good at what it does. As a very busy graduate student, it was recommended to me by my therapist to try and use a planner to get a hold on the many things that are constantly swirling around and causing daily, weekly anxieties. The Simple Elephant seems to be a planner that is more than just a calendar, and I decided this was a good fit to try and help improve my overall mental well being. After several weeks of daily use, I have turned to the "Affirmations" and "I am grateful for..." sections more than I expected, and have added to them depending on my mood. I have used the goal setting and "things I can improve on" as a motivator and provides a welcome record of my accomplishments and challenges. I have yet to fill in the Vision Board or Mind Map pages, but am looking forward to doing that soon. The Simple Elephant has quickly become a constant item in my bag every day, and the first thing that hits my desk every morning when I get to the lab. For the price, the quality of the item is very, very high. It's not quite a Moleskine, but it is so much more than that. The paper is heavy enough that it feels quality, the printing and binding quality is superb, the cover is a smooth, matte synthetic that seems ready to stand up to the abuse of daily journeys throughout the year. It came packages in an incredibly sleek box, and the company has a wit and presence that exudes devotion to their product. I really enjoyed reading their 'guide' to the planner, and learning about the little touches, like elephant icons scattered throughout the planner reminding you to look back at your yearly goals or affirmations. If you're looking for a cheap student calendar to use for jotting down your locker combination and homework assignments, this goes well above and beyond that. If the idea of writing down reasons you're grateful for the life you have and affirming your belief in yourself makes your skin crawl or causes you disgust or disdain, this may not be for you. But if you're like me, and have struggled with keeping yourself ordered in a chaotic world, have an eye and heart towards positive self-image, need a little help keeping it all sorted, and enjoy having a reminders of why it is we do what we do, this is a great purchase. I think I could find the same personal relief that comes from 'getting things out of my head' and in an agenda like this from any calendar, but the Simple Elephant is more like a self-appointed roadmap to what you want to do, rather than just a blank slate to keep your meetings straight.

Great planner
Great monthly and weekly planner. Thick pages. Really well made. Love the envelope in the back for extra storage and the pen holder on the side. The other pages for goals and vision boards are great as well. Comes with a little sheet of basic stickers for important days.
