Q: Are these shorts longer than most? My son is 12 and likes his shorts to at least go to his knees.

That depends on the distance from his waste to his knees. Might need to research the overall length of these shorts.

There is no liner. The material is lite but thick enough that you cant see though it

Q: Is the draw string long enough? Im returning several fron Pulse Uniform because the draw string is ridiculously short.

It's long enough if your not trying to stuff 300 lbs into XXL shorts. I weigh 220, fits fine, drawstrings are long enough.
