The classic Staunton variant is bold and satisfying: The King is large, stately, and stable. The Queen rightly stands tall and elegant next to the King, with a crown of sharp menace. The Bishop's mitre seems to burn with a supernatural flame. The Knight appears wild and fierce with it's flying mane. The Rook is as stout and imposing as it's power would suggest, and is not just slightly taller than the pawn. The soulful pawn is well proportioned and sits as an anchor on their base. The mass of a whole 4x set sits just on the edge of "too large" for practical portability. Depending on your own preference, (and for me) the included 20x20 board might seem just a little too cramped of a battlefield for this set. Luckily, my 22x22 board provides almost the perfect proportion of space to suit my eye. The pieces are noticeably hefty and satisfying to hold. I also enjoy the rich, off-white color of the light pieces. No spoilers, but the little touches of detail were fun to find and appreciate. Effort was seen to the rule booklet and is appreciable, even if you don't need the book. When OTB with this set, even if your opponent crushes you, you might be consoled knowing that you'll at least look great in the process

This is a great set. I bought the 3x set and returned it so I could get the 4x. I love the camel colored white pieces.

The pieces feel nice. The silicone mat is adequate. Now find a surface big enough to accommodate the 20x20 mat. Keeping it because I like the feel of the pieces. I am a beginner.

Despite this, the set remains a great option for playing at home or taking it to different places without worrying about damage to the board. If the manufacturer offered a version with a more traditional material, it would be even better. Absolutely gorgeous set. Hefty weight that feels great to use. The design is elegant but easily recognizable as standard pieces. I don't know why some are complaining that the set is plastic. Yes, it's plastic. Did you expect ivory or gold? The pieces are plastic but look and feel great. Pieces are larger than a standard tournament set but fit on a board with 2.25" squares. The board is a little strange at first but it's growing on me. Most flexible boards crease so it's best to roll rather than fold, but this one can be folded without creasing. 10/10, would buy again and already have bought several as gifts (for a total of 4 so far).

Got it on sale. Definitely worth it at discounted price we got it for. Would consider it at full price too. The pieces look and feel good and the kit is as described. I don't know what starting weight it's quadrupling, but it's heavy enough that it won't scatter easily when bumped, and light enough that it's not difficult for my kid to use too. I heard that having a bigger board & larger pieces is apparently better for seeing strategies/planning; we're excited to test this out.

Decent quality set - I don’t mind that it is plastic and that was a concern I had. The pieces in the 4x weighted are massive, which is something I didn’t realise when I bought the set. I’d actually prefer them to be smaller and the same weight but that’s probably my fault for not checking. I will still play with them. Silicon mat is decent, seems very durable and malleable. The bag just about fits the pieces in. You need the box to carry them around anyway because they are so huge. It’s a heavy bit of kit so definitely don’t buy this if you plan to be on the go with it a lot.

Très franchement ce set d’échecs tient absolument toutes ses promesses. Les pièces sont impressionnantes et conséquentes de part leur poids et leur taille. Je trouve la finition excellente elles sont assez jolies et inspirent la solidité. Le tapis est pliable et ne présente aucune trace de pliure disgracieuse au déballage. Il y a une carte du fabricant qui spécifie qu’il remplacera le tapis ou des pièces abîmées si nécessaire et la procédure est expliquée. Le fabricant affirme être en mesure de corriger les défauts dans les jours suivant l’acquisition. Je n’aurai pas à tester cela. Le poids du set n’est pas négligeable mais l’encombrement est très acceptable et vous pourrez entreposer sans problème la boîte dans un placard ou une étagère. C’est vraiment un jeu confortable et confortable et conforme à ce qu’on peut trouver en club ou en tournoi Je le trouverais presque un peu trop flatteur: Bref si vous avez besoin d’un set d’échecs pour toutes les circonstances ou presque (il n’est pas fait pour un sac à dos ni pour vous suivre en avion et il est fait pour jouer sur une surface plane et régulière, ça ne tient pas sur un coin de table. Excelente, realmente se sienten pesados, el tamaño es muy grande, sin llegar a la exageracion. Los acabados de las piezas impecables, en verdad se esmeraron los diseñadores, cuidaron cada detalle, puedes elegir tambien el color de tablero, con un material muy suave al tacto y de material muy duradero. Vale la pena cada peso que gastas. Lo colveré a comprar para un muy buen regalo.
