eufy Security eufyCam S330 (eufyCam 3), Add-On Camera, 4K Solar

Have 4 of these mounted at each corner of my house. Video quality is fantastic, however, there is a delay in the sensors that are triggered from movement and often you only catch the end of someone or something in the video making some captures useless. Also, and this might be a setting I haven’t been able to find and adjust yet, it can be over sensitive, picking up slight movement of plants in the capture area when the wind blows or a spider walks across the lens. You can adjust the capture area but I found it can be hit or miss as to whether or not the video movement trigger stays within the area you set. For the most part it works pretty good. The advertised charging time to keep everything running is pretty spot on if you keep the solar panels in good sunlight. I’ve had these about 6+ months and they are staying charged. Only had one lose a charge for a while but once there was enough sunlight it came back online automatically. Cannot use WiFi 5, 6 or 7, you have to connect everything to a 2.4ghz band. But, with that said, 2.4 is plenty for these cameras and system. If WiFi goes out, so do your cameras. Overall, very satisfied with this system. Works great.

The reason why this didn’t get 5 stars is due to 2 reasons: 1) there are intermittent issues with the home base unit, meaning often I can’t get the video feed from the camera; and 2) its alarm goes off even tho I’ve turned it off—meaning I get a screeching alarm every so often when I pull up in my car. :/ Update: a firmware update seems to have fixed the random alarm issue and homebase seems to connect regularly without issue now. The solar panel works great—even in a semi-shaded area it keeps the camera fully powered. Because of these improvements, I’m updating the score to 5 stars—I’d have zero issues buying more of these cameras (and plan to).

Over the past two years I have purchased 8 of these cameras (4 in a 4-cam kit). All are outside for security. Three stopped working in less than two years. For their price I would expect them to last longer. They work well when they work, but the failure rate is too high.

2 years later: I’m updating these cameras to 4 stars. Compared to my other outdoor Eufy cameras (SoloCam S340, Doorbell E340, etc), it is the most consistent. I bought this eufycam3 to exchanged for a SoloCam S340 because the previous camera never alerted me about animals. This camera ONLY alerts me about animals, even at my front door area. I’ve tested it with different settings and people, but it only alerts for animals. People on my front yard might as well be invisible. Ditto for my backyard. Eufy, you’re making me miss Ring. I should not need to have this camera to alert for animals and the SoloCam S340 to alert for people. That said, maybe because it’s only alerting when the roaming dogs are out, the solar charge is good: one gets next to sunlight, while the other gets direct sunlight all day. I was trying out Eufy after finding out that Ring hands over security footage to the police, no questions asked. Now, I have to wonder if that’s because that’s because there’s no Eufy footage. I’ve included 4 screenshots spread between both cameras. I’ve had delivery people coming to the house several times that have not appeared on camera. The cameras are set to cover both yards with settings for every type of movement on the highest level of sensitivity at this point: no people. Instead I present to you 3 pictures of roaming dogs in my front yard—and one of them in my backyard! The picture quality is great, but Eufy didn’t alert on us removing the dog from our backyard at 3:00 in the morning, so that leaves me very concerned and feeling vulnerable. (I’ve also included the settings for the front yard camera: it’s at the highest sensitivity, set to detect all motion, etc) It’s bad enough having a camera in the front of the house that doesn’t turn on for people, but having a camera in a fenced-in backyard that doesn’t detect people is a whole other level of problem. So I don’t know what the solution is: I suspect it might be to return what I can and sell what I can’t — and find a different system.

We added this to our existing Eufy camera system. Easy setup, solar charging works great, images are sharp and clear. Good value.

I originally purchased the 4-camera eufyCam S330 system in November 2023. The quality and long-term hardware and software reliability have been very disappointing. Over time, 2 out of the 4 cameras (50% of my system) suffered the exact same failure. The cameras stopped charging, got stuck in an unrecoverable red/blue light flashing loop, and became completely unresponsive. The sync button produces no beeps, and standard factory resets do not work. After submitting logs and video evidence, eufy customer support confirmed these units suffered complete hardware/firmware failures that cannot be fixed remotely. However, because it was past the standard 12-month warranty, support refused to offer any replacement or meaningful resolution, despite half the system failing from the same issue. If you are buying this system, keep in mind that individual add-on cameras are expensive to replace if they hit a firmware loop outside the 1-year warranty window. Proceed with caution if you expect a multi-year setup.

Great product, works exactly as described. Easy setup makes it’s nice for electronic challenged people like me.🤓 I have several eufy security cameras at my residence that I could review when I am out of town. Nice peace of mind.

We have tried others, but found these the best. Easy-to-use, easy to set up, and the video is excellent. Solar charging is a huge plus, as is no monthly fees!

I like eufy cams. Downsides are you can only have 2 people logged in at once. And for some reason the camera doesn't pick up people immediately. The sensitivity and range of view is weird.
