Is there a way to obtain an extra shim? I ordered this product through Amazon but our window channel is very deep and 2 shims are not enough.

when using this, is it easy to open the door? I would need to open the door often to take the dog out.

For the partially-open scenario, can't somebody simply close the door/window just enough to release the tension and allow the bar to fall?

Just want to add that I use this with a window fan so I get a partially open option. The fan has lips that prevent it from slipping away from the window. I put the fan in the window then put this in place and perfecto.

What size are the ends of the product? Would it fit in an RV window?

The hinged end, which you mount permanently onto the window frame, is 1 1/2 inches wide, 2 1/2 inches tall, and protrudes from the window frame into the window space about 2 inches.  The bar can hang from this hinged end when not fastened closed.  I don't have an RV, so I'm not familiar with the window frames, but this fits fine in my sliding door.  I ended up installing it but not using it, because my elderly mother couldn't get it open to escape in an emergency.  I purchased a tension style rod that works well for now.  I anticipate that one day I will be using this instead, as I like the design.
