Needs a chip resetter to reset the ink cartridges after
Prints really great but to refill it will be an issue because you’ll need a chip resetter to reset the cartridge after refilling. Otherwise it connects well and size is perfect for a small office plus it doesn’t make much noise at all

Great affordable reliable printer
Easy to set up and allows you to plug in to your computer vs using Bluetooth or wi-fi which was becoming a headache with my other printer.

Was great until the firmware update
It's difficult to do a review on this printer since I can't use it anymore and can't tell you about all the great options it's supposed to have but I will try. Wireless connectivity is unpredictable . I'm always having to go into the menu which is very tedious and reconnect and has nothing to do with my router or my modem because everything else on my network connects just fine. The print quality is questionable seems no matter how clean the inkjets are I always get streaks and error messages. This happens no matter what brand of ink I use. So, I stopped buying the expensive Epson brand if I'm going to get poor quality. The noise level well that's something you're going to have to get used to and it's very slow making the noise level last a long time however; This WAS a fantastic piece of machinery until Epson got greedy and decided to send out an update to the firmware making the printer unusable if you do not use EPSON brand cartridges ONLY. That's great except that those tiny ink cartridges don't last more than a few weeks and come with a very huge price tag not everybody can afford them. I'm nowhere near rich; it takes me a ridiculous amount of time to save money. I swear I printed about three or four documents average quality prints and already it was prompting me to buy more of their exclusive ink cartridges. Not to mention all the copies that came out with poor quality. (three). Even the black color is ridiculously priced. But EPSON knows that. Makes me regret getting an Epson. That's two printers that I have that I can't use because of their clever upgrade. A complete waste of money that I don't have. I positively can't stand this company anymore. Why not send out a firmware update so we have to use exorbitantly priced paper made of birch trees in the paper tray too? There's absolutely nothing I can do to make this printer work or be useful except to sell it, but nobody wants Epson because they're not a budget-friendly company. Buy their proprietary garbage only and you'll be fine (and broke). - Try to use affordable third-party ink cartridges and end up having a printer that does nothing except collect dust and make you regret ever spending any money on them ever again. Great job!By the way there's lots of redundant software on this printer that you'll never use, it makes it very confusing while trying to navigate through the menu as you read all the error messages. I'd suggest any other printer just not EPSON. Unless you like error messages. Glad I could help!

ONLY USE EPSON INK CARTRIDGES
Tried to use off brand ink cartridges and they did not work - off brand ink cartridges are NOT compatible on Epson printers. Epson printers will only work with Epson ink cartridges. Printer is a little complicated to use and takes some time to figure out how to work it for your needs. Customer Support is helpful though and will gladly guide you through any problems you may have trying to get to what you want printer to do. After working out the "bugs" with help from Customer Support printer is working well.

Simple setup. Flatbed scanner, great print quality!
We had an Epson that lasted eight years. So much printing that the print head actually wore out. We bought an HP Deskjet to replace it. Eleven months nightmare. Trashed the new HP this morning. This XP4200 setup was easy and connecting it to my Android took under three minutes. Easy instructions. Epson stuck with a good thing and it works. Very happy with Epson as usual.Total time from box to printing was forty five minutes. That's excellent!Note: I never use off brand cartridges. A few have posted about this printer using only Epson ink or requiring a Firmware update for off brand cartridges. I never used off brand with our old Epson and for eight years it had no issues other than in the last few months of that eight years the print head was worn out. It was very similar to this one and three Masters Degrees were earned by our children and that printer was a workhorse!!

Absolute Scam
TLDR: Do yourself the favor, and dont buy this printer. I would leave 0 stars if I could.Terrible, printed 5 pages worth of light documents before it claims the black ink cartridge that came with it already ran out. On top of that, Epson doesnt want you to use cheaper third party ink cartridges, so you will be stuck buying their overpriced (and potentially under-filled) ink cartridges.I wish I could return this printer, definitely not the same as the older models, I used to love this brand but certainly not after this, epson is just trying to monopolize, and pretty sure there is a class action lawsuit against them disabling 3rd party ink cartridges as well. Is this really how you build loyal customers?100 page capacity? It should only be 5, because that's how many pages you'll get through before having to shell out an extra $20 to print 5 more pages...at this rate, in order to print 100 pages of simple, lightweight, bw text documents, it would cost you roughly $400 in ink. Since when did this become acceptable?Don't buy this, you will regret it.
