Great flippersSoft foot compartment & open for toes so no crushing and easy drainage of sand.infinitely adjustable side straps.Good for body surfing and boogie boardGood power and minimal fatigue with effortOnly problem is that side straps tend to slip a bit and so flipper can get loose.HAVE TO REVISE THIS REVIEW>>> Had the Shredder II version and they were great. This version is very poorly constructed. The side straps slip out of adjustment. The fin saver ankle strap will not hold tightUsing these evry second day and now regard them as complete fail.have been torn off in small surf.Dont know why there has been such a fall off in qualityDO NOT BUYThe picture above is of the shredder II not "version III"

Get the Travel Trek Fin with padded foot strap instead. They are identical models and both are very comfortable.
I own a few pairs of these now. The ankle strap is basically worthless because it's so wide that it would completely fail in the event of the fin coming off. I have the travel trek fin with the padded foot strap now. Identical to these with out the hassle of trying to get the clip to clasp out in the water. Complaints aside, my first pair melted in my car in a freak fin melting accident. I called US Divers, sent them the pictures, and they said it was under warranty and sent a free pair. The ones they sent look different from the ones pictured but claim to be the same model. Also my travel trek fins came off when I went over the falls a few days and I'm pleased to say that I easily found them floating on top of the water. So mad props for that.As an avid bodysurfer people criticize me for using these fins because they're not MS Vipers or DaFiNs. My argument for doing so is that these are built by a company that makes comfortable fins for tourists and hobbyists alike. That being said they are actually very comfortable. I've used Churchills, DaFiNs, and even jet fins and the one thing I can say is that they all intend to murder your ankles. You do get more thrust out of the official swim fin brands for bodyboarding and bodysurfing however I can wear these for hours on end and only need to let a little callous built up on my right big toe. They provide a great amount of thrust for hard to catch waves. I use them to snorkel around La Jolla shores all the time for 2-3 hours with no fin socks.Great fin overall, however I suggest the travel trek fin with the padded foot strap instead of the shredder surf ii model because you'll find yourself hating the ankle strap. Also the travel trek comes in more colors other than black or red. I have a yellow pair.

fell apart when entering the water for the first time
First, they are undersized and VERY narrow. I wear shoe size 8.5 (wide when I can find them, or usual shoes otherwise), and with the dry feet the "size 7-10" fins would not fit even on the bare feet, let alone with aquasocks. But with the wet feet I was able to pull them on. Second, the very first time I tried to enter the water, a side clip unclipped itself, shot off the fin and got lost. That was it for the trip. I've got a replacement heel strap, so maybe I'll try again some day. Good thing that on the same trip we've also had the Churchill fins. Those actually do work, and work pretty well. And have no clips to fall off. Get them instead.

Right tool for the job
I must say that I am quite pleased with these fins. I have been using them twice a week for about a month now and they are the right tool for the job. They are great for body surfing; body boarding; and light snorkeling in shallow, calm water and the extra ankle strap is brilliant! I love the neoprene padding on the heel and the foot pocket is soft enough for hours of use. These are not rockets in the open water by any means but, in waves and in very shallow water the stubby design is wonderful. I looked for months and, for this type of fin, I didn't think I was able to find anything better. My regular use has supported my decision. I only gave the Shredder Surf II fins four stars because they are fairly specific in there usefulness. If you are looking for speed in open water then you are going to want a fin designed more suited for scuba (much more expensive of course). My wife's pair is "Small" and she wears a women's US 8 (EURO 38-39) for most shoe brands. They fit her quite well. I have the "Large" size and my foot is men's US 11 (EURO 45). I seem to reach the limits of this size. My foot is not wide. Over all I am very pleased with this product.

Good all pupose flipper
By chance rented these on one of our trips to Maui. I loved them, so this time I decided to buy them prior to our recent trip back to Maui. They work great as an all-purpose flipper. I use them for swimming, snorkeling and body-boarding in the surf. They are compact enough to allow for rapid acceleration and I really like the separate ankle strap. This I find essential for body boarding as I have had my flippers ripped off by the waves and this separate ankle strap prevents you from loosing your flippers. Great product.

surf fins
These fins are great. I ALWAYS seem to loose a fin when body surfing! These fins have a ankle strap to prevent the fin from coming loose and slipping off.I surf hard and long and always get rubbing areas,(next to the little toe or above the big toe), and the sand doesn't help!I have found wearing a light weight rubber sock works perfect.May look like a tourist walking down to the water ;) but they are a great guard !!Get these fins and get in the water..
