Loses charge quickly
I keep this in my car and the several times I went to use it, including yesterday, it was dead. I had charged it about a month ago. By contrast, my wife has a Weego 44s jump starter and it is always fully charged, despite being stored in a car that is frequently subfreezing. The Type S also takes a long time to charge via USB. The Type S might be appropriate if you live in a warm climate or just keep it in the house. But don't count on it to be charged when you need it most. The Weego 44s is a better and more reliable alternative.

HAND-HELD RECHARGER - 12V CAR BATTERY JUMP-STARTER - FLASHLIGHT & RED WARNING LIGHTS
This product is very impressive as an emergency road-side tool and jump-starter (with one exception discussed below). It has a 1 year warranty but if you register it on their website (instructions included), they will extend the warranty 1 additional year. PS: TYPE S is the brand name (until the product arrived, I thought it referred to some kind of connector like TYPE A or TYPE C..). It also will recharge your mobile devices and has LED white and red lights. It can be recharged with either household AC or car 12v adapter.ELECTRICAL PORTS - input and output - all have a protective flap to prevent water contact - not waterproof but should keep the connectors dry in a rainy situation. I was not able to test this as we have not had any rain for awhile. It has 1 input port for USB unit charging - the screen display shows percent charged. You can recharge by using the provided USB cable plugged into either an AC/DC USB converter (not included) or the 12V USB adapter (cigarette lighter) which is included.MOBILE DEVICE CHARGING: You can do wireless charging by placing your device on top of the unit - if the device supports wireless charging. You also have 2 output charging ports for various cables (use cables supplied with your mobile devices). It also has an output "lightning" cable for 5v/1.2a and 9v/2a device charging (built in to the top of the unit under a protective flap).LIGHTS: LED flashlight - 3 modes - spotlight, flasher, SOS. Red warning lights - 3 modes - 2 red warning lights, flashing, SOS. (Note on the RED mode - QUICKLY press the power button twice to activate RED then click button to change modes.)LANGUAGE (for the screen displays) - You can select English, Spanish, French, 2 Asian (I assume) by using the power button (hold for 5 seconds to get the option)REASON FOR 4-STAR RATING - This jump-starter will NOT jump-start a stone-cold, dead battery - 0 charge. The unit has a built-in battery polarity protection feature which will detect if you have connected the jumper cables wrongly. However, the battery must have at least a little charge left otherwise the unit will flag an error "Battery protected. Unplug. Start over". You cannot get past this safety feature - it cannot detect any charge current to determine if the jumper cables are attached correctly. I tried 5 "start overs" (and felt really silly after the 3rd retry) following both the screen displays as well as the User Manual. I researched the issue and discovered that the battery has to have at least a few amps of charge for the unit to detect correct setup and allow you to do the next step - jump-start the car. I put the battery on a trickle charger for a few minutes (this unit does NOT do a trickle charge to a car battery - only mobile devices). The battery did not have enough charge to start the car (not even a click-click) - and the key-in-the-ignition warning buzzer had a real sick sound (haha). I hooked up the TYPE S jumper-cables and the car started right away. PS: The car had been sitting in the driveway for over 7 months and the battery was stone-cold dead.Note: After the successful jump-start, the unit's charge level dropped from 100% to 97% - impressive. The product detail webpage reflected that it will "JUMP START DEAD BATTERIES" - maybe zombie dead but not stone-cold dead. This is why I gave it a 4-star, otherwise, I am totally impressed by this product.SUGGESTION FOR THE MANUFACTURER: Perhaps the manufacturer can upgrade the product to allow a user to override the battery polarity protection feature (for a situation like this) - such as holding the power button down for 10 seconds or quickly pressing it 5 times. If you are stuck away from home without a car battery trickle charger to tickle a few amps into it, this unit, as is, can't help you jump-start a totally stone-cold dead battery (0 charge).

VIDEO: A must have item for your car! Lots of features
The media could not be loaded. If you don’t already have a good jump starter battery pack in your car then you should just go ahead and order this item. It’s all you’ll need!In the box you get the battery pack itself, the battery cable with clamps, a USB-A to micro-USB charging cable, a 12V outlet/cigarette lighter adapter, a small instruction booklet, and a nice zippered storage case to keep everything in.You can charge up the battery pack using the included micro-USB cable, but the device also has a USB-C port for charging. If you already have USB-C cables and chargers this means you’ll be able to charge the unit twice as fast, and not have to worry about keeping a different type of cable around. Using micro-USB the unit recharges in 4-5 hours, and using USB-C it takes only 2-2.5 hours. The long edge of the battery pack has a small rubber door that reveals a USB-A, micro-USB, and USB-C port. The micro-USB port is for charging the battery pack only. The USB-A port is for charging your external device only. The USB-C port can be used both to charge the battery pack and to charge your external device. Also along the long side are the battery pack’s screen as well as the power button. The corners of the long edge feature red lights that can be turned on in place of a roadside flare. One of the short edges has a rubber door that protects the connection for the jumper cable clamps, as well as a white LED flashlight. The top of the pack has a pad for wirelessly charging your phone, and a flap that reveals a built-in Lightning cable for charging your Apple device.Using the unit is super easy. Push the power button and the unit is ready to charge an external device or jump start a car. If you want to jump start a car just plug the battery clamp cable into the unit, and then connect the clamps to the positive and negative posts on the car battery. The screen will display step by step instructions to guide you through the process. You’ll likely start the car on the first try!Whenever the battery pack is turned on it’s ready to charge things. So if you’re not jump starting a car you can plug in a USB-A or USB-C cable to charge your device, or sit your phone on top for wireless charging. If you have an iPhone or iPad you can just flip open the flap and use the built-in Lightning cable to charge… no need to have any other cables with you.If you find yourself on the side of the road at night you can use the white flashlight just like a regular flashlight. It can also be switched into a rapidly blinking mode or a SOS in morse code flashing pattern. If you don’t need the flashlight you can turn on the red hazard lights and sit the unit on the side of the road like a flare. The red hazard lights also have the rapidly flashing and SOS modes. This is a great item to keep in your trunk or glovebox. Not only can it charge your car, but you can also help out somebody else without needing to connect jumper cables to your own car. Even when you don’t need to use the jump starting feature it still works great as a flashlight, hazard light, and regular power bank.

LIFE SAVER
I work in public safety and frequently get called for cars with dead batteries stalled on the side of the road. I keep this bad boy charged at all times and within arms reach. I have jumped trucks that were completely dead in a matter of seconds. You will need to charge it after every jump but while stored, it keeps a charge for a loooong time. Absolutely cannot say enough good things about this thing. I love it and it can easily fit in the glove box.
