Assembling the wings is a major challenge! For whatever reason, Cobi has decided that both wings be built simultaneously. It’s hard to decide which pieces go to which wing. In addition, it’s hard to tell what color green is to be used. Furthermore, because Cobi has already positioned pieces “fade to grey”, it’s hard to check if you’ve done things correctly. To complicate things even more, “non standard” bricks are used. For example, you expect bricks to be in a 2x6, 2x8, 2x10 etc. format. In this kit there are several 2x5 and 2x7 pieces. You have to be super careful which bricks you pick or the assembly won’t work. I had to build 1 wing four times to get in right. Just started bag 2 (of 4). I’ll provide progress. I’ve now completed the plane. The model can be built with gear up or down. There are no stickers, instead parts come pre painted, a nice touch. I painted the insides of the cowlings black. Only disappointment is the canopy, which has no glass. Would have preferred a clear canopy with painted lines.

Ich baue ich ja schon seit Jahren durch das Sortiment von Cobi und bin dennoch immer wieder überrascht, welch Kreativität diese Firma an den Tag legt. Mit der Ju-88 hat Cobi einmal mehr ein bekanntes Flugzeug detailgetreu umgesetzt. Die Drucke sind fehlerfrei, die Qualität und Klemmkraft der Steine nicht zu beanstanden und die Bauchtechniken gewohnt kreativ. Allerdings empfiehlt es sich, die Formteile mit den Propellern, ebenso wie das dieses Mal nicht einklappbare Fahrwerk entgegen der Anleitung erst ganz zum Schluss anzubringen, da sich die Befestigung der Tragflächen am Rumpf ansonsten ein wenig kompliziert gestaltet.

Le kit est tout simplement splendide mais un petit bémol pour le train d’atterrissage qui n’est pas rétractable dans son logement d’aile comme sur l’original.
