better than Lego
Even though there were a few challenges in the manual, it is nothing that an interested builder (adult or child) should be afraid of. Building is most of the fun anyways. Excellent brick quality and lots of fun with the remote control. This is what Lego Technik used to be like in the 90s, but even cheaper than back then.

Very enjoyable.
Packaging : A fairly standard, well printed box containing 5 numbered bags and the associated electronics.Instructions : The instructions are a well-printed, clear manual that makes sense. It is very much worth noting that the numbered bags DO NOT relate to build order - you will want to open most of them from the start. The track elements are all in one bag, so it may be smart to save those for the very end where you need them.Stickers : This set has no stickers, and also no printed elements. This is a refreshing nod to the old style.Electronics : The set uses a single somewhat sizable block for power, control, and motors. It is a good design, and can in theory be used to build other tracked or skid-steer vehicles. The recharge port is small and unobtrusive. It should be noted that outdoor use of this element might not be a good idea, as there are several areas where dirt and debris can get in, and the charging port is very low to the ground where it could easily get clogged with dirt or debris. The remote is the 'odd' thing in this set ; it feels *VERY* cheap compared to the rest of the elements, but it does work (and far better than the app that can also be used).Parts quality : The parts are to the excellent standard I am coming to expect from Mould King, with good fit and finish. No parts were missing or damaged.Set design : Aside from a few odd choices that can be very easily adjusted from a half-decent parts box (All red lights up front?), the set is very well designed. It is worth noting that they missed a trick by going with a manual system for raising / lowering the bucket arm, but the system they went with for that is decent enough that I'm willing to accept it. The tilt of the bucket itself can be a bit difficult to adjust, but the system does usually work.Overall thoughts : Not exactly a display piece, but a decent build and fun to fire up the remote and rumble it around on a nice carpeted floor. Avoid smooth surfaces, as these tracks have no grip and no rubber nubs were included to attempt to remedy that. You'll need a pair of AAA batteries on hand for the remote, but otherwise everything is in the box and good to go.

great plastic for assembly
Iām a lifelong LEGO fan of 32+ years. I started on Duplos, got into the 1000-piece technics of the late ā90ās, and continued into adult life with mid-size models and a pair of 3,000-piece kits. With about 15 Mega Bloks scattered in there, I wanted to explore other manufacturers (see my review of A Xinao Toys ā Technique ā Model ā 7070 for full story). This is my 3rd non-LEGO, non-Mega Blok, and itās my 3rd ātechnic.ā This experience was the best of the 3, and the biggest reason is the quality of the plastic (the āpiece fitā) during assembly. My biggest complaint is the lack of 1:1 on axels in the instruction manual. A more complete analysis of my building experience is below, starting with the rating system Iām using:-> identification: ___/5 (how clear is the manufacturer name, model name/#, etc.)-> boxing: ___/5 (includes whether picture on box or not, pcs, etc.)-> directions: ___/5-> packaging [of pcs]: ___/5 (ie. for a 2,000 piece model, are pieces in numbered bags or not)-> piece fit: ___/5 (LEGO would score 5/5 while MegaBlok would score 3/5 back in the day)-> extra pieces: ___/5-> fluidity of moving parts: ___/5-> service: N/A/5 (if a piece is missing or some other deficiency, how easy is it to contact the company and get the matter resolved?)-> extras: ___/5 (in the 90s, LEGO would include a folded sheet or booklet of most other kits available at the time. does this kit have anything comparable?)This kit scores:-) identification: 4/5 ā Whatās the model name? I see a company name, a series name (āGlory Guardiansā ā there are 3 other construction vehicles of similar size), an identifying number, and ages 8+, but no model name. No year is on the box or instructions.-) boxing: 5/5 ā Itās a secure box and a lot of information is on it.-) directions: 4/5 ā easy enough to follow, as long as you are top-notch with your axel lengths. (I consider myself pretty darn decent and still made a mistake in one spot twice. Iām used to that 1:1 to be certain.)-) packaging [of pcs]: 3/5 ā This oneās weird & hard to describe. Bags are numbered. But. Well, you open bag 1, use it for a few steps, then when you need xx piece for the first time, you open bag 2. All common parts are in that bag. But a few steps later, you need bag 3. By the time youāre halfway through building, all major bags are opened, yet you havenāt gone through more than half of any one bag. Thatās fine for a 516-piece model, but for the 2,000+ models, this makes me cautious to spend the bigger $$ on one.-) piece fit: 5/5 ā The best non-LEGO experience Iāve had! In my opinion, Mould Kingās biggest selling point (so far).-) extra pieces: 5/5 ā like LEGO, an extra of the smallest pieces-) fluidity of moving parts: 5/5 ā they all work!-) service: N/A-) extras: N/A (What are the boxes inside the box supposed to be used forā¦??)other notes: I had little interest in this particular model. I want to know if I should shell out $100+ on a 2,000+ piece ātechnicā model. Aside from the piece bagging, Iād say this experiment checks the boxes & Iām willing to try a larger Mould King. Iāve seen about a dozen Mould King models I have decent interest in.This kit is motorized. No batteries included. Rather, thereās a remote control that comes with a USB charger. (Only the wheels (treads) are attached to the motor; raising and adjusting the loader is done manually.) Or at least thatās whatās supposed to happen. I canāt get it to work. Was well on its way to 5 stars before that. (Then, I spent 25 minutes of searching and couldnāt find this page ā I had to go back to recent orders to get to here. Knocking off another half-point. Name your stinkinā products, LEGO copycats.)
