Versatile Fantasy Miniatures
Excellent quality miniatures with crisp moulding, for a great price.I bought this set for the miniatures alone, ostensibly to be a 28mm/32mm sea/shore fantasy army in its own right with any array of troop types for games like Dragon Rampant and DBF.In addition, the crab miniatures will get used as Mudcrabs in ‘Elder Scrolls Call to Arms’ themed games, and some of the more xenomorph looking figures will get used in Starship Gun-crawls and Xenos Rampant. All in all, great value for money.

Great set of minis for a bargain price
These excellently sculpted minis come mounted on their bases and ready to put on the table. But paint them if you really want to freak your players out. Also comes with a battlemat and a stat and description booklet to help you integrate them into your 5e campaign. Great value.

Niche, but good overall, with a couple of issues.
I really like Steamforged Games models, and they mostly knocked it out of the park with these ones. I wanted something a bit more exotic than usual, and these Karkinos creatures really fit that bill. The models are all posed in a way that will make painting easier with few hard-to-reach places. So all in all they are very hobbyist friendly. They don't have traditional equivalents in core D&D so you really have to rely on the little handbook that comes with it in order to use them as anything other than a proxy. They do include a double sided map and notes for running your own encounters. Unlike the BIGGER boss monster boxes, these don't have multiple stat-blocks for the creatures, and instead try to balance the encounters according to tiers. With different DC and damage ratings for the traps and environment depending of what level the party is at. That's all well and good, but it creates odd situations like where a simple fight is surrounded by environmental hazards that are much more difficult than the creatures within it.There is also what I perceive to be a huge issue with the final boss, the Crab Archon. There seems to be parts missing from the stats, particularly the skill and save proficiencies, as well as the Dexterity modifier being calculated incorrectly. This feels like more of an annoyance than anything else, as it doesn't prevent a fight encounter from being run without them, while that missing proficiency (+4) can be figured out from the surrounding text, and allowing the saves to be assigned and skills to be recalculated if need be.All in all, good, but be prepared to put some extra work in to get it all running.
