Finding material is hampered by a poor, abbreviated index
The only problem with my edition is that the index is very short and incomplete. Even when combined with the Table Of Contents, finding material is considerably hampered by an extremely poor, abbreviated index. I took an earlier edition of this book out of y school library and that edition's index was much better. As a reference however "Electrical Engineering" a very good starting point. It is often referred to by teachers and engineers as a "bible" of sorts. The primers on alternative energy sources (wind, solar, PV, geothermal) are basic, but good. I'd have liked more on these. The traditional energy source models had good sections. In that way, this book rocks, and is timeless. It also covered transmission and distribution nicely, with a major section on substations as well. For newer or developing technology you'll find greater depth and detail by looking and researching on your own.I did notice a little repetition, in going from section to section, and I also saw some uncorrected grammar or typo errors. This edition with the mustard or brown cover that I got at Amazon doesn't isn't bound as well as the old one. I know can be rough with books I own but this one's inside front cover is coming unhinged.

Didn't find helpful for PE review
After having the book for over a couple weeks and not using it for a single reason while studying for the POWER PE, I've decided to return it. It's not worth $130 in my mind. Sure, it has some good stuff in it, but that's a lot of money for a book that I may never use again. I honestly don't think it would help during the test, and if I'm at home or at work I can easily find better information in a different reference book or online. I should also note, I TRIED, MANY TIMES to use it to look up topics while studying but it was completely useless, in my opinion. I'm sure somebody can find it useful, but not I. Hope this helps you out.

EE Handbook e.15
This book is necessary for any electrical student/instructor's library. However, the majority of information is about power generation, transmission and distribution rather than the whole of info that would be looked for in many books. That's alright for me since I'm interested in power but may not be for the average student who is still choosing their focus because as it turns out, there is no information about signal processing which is another big section of electrical engineering

Great book for certain aspects
Great book with heaps of detail towards Heavy Electrical and theory, slightly touches on building services but dont expect great details on electronics or communications etc. Covers instruments quite well, bits are easy to understand and other parts are worded unusually, maybe this is because the aurthors are from other countries with slightly different technical vocabulary (to were i am from), or maybe they just want to sound smart. Anyways well worth a buy as your bound to use it every now and again, good diagrams lots of interesting stuff.

My experience with 'Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers'.
Power was not my field of study in Electrical Engineering, and this book gave me, in one volume, a comprehensive source of technical information that I find succinct and complete.
