whats the difference in the cloth heads? yellow is for and white is for ??

Hi, thanks for the question. There is a slight difference in hardness between the two polishing wheels. The chemical in the yellow buffing wheel makes it more rigid than the white buffing wheel and is more suitable for the first polishing stage. For example, you can use the yellow buffing wheel for the cut-down process if there are some deep scratches. Then in the next pre-polish step, you can finish with the white buffing wheel.

what size is the arbor on the motor?

The arbors are just about 3 3/4 inches long.

Anyone use this to sharpen knives and/or wood lathe tools by any chance? Is it sturdy enough to handle that? Are there different wheels available?

I used the polisher to sharpen a couple of knives and I'm not sure if I expected too much or didn't do it correctly. I did see an improvement in the sharpness of the knives I used on the polisher but not sure if I had enough compound on the wheels or took enough time. I think it is a combination of both. It is nice to have the ability of varying the speed and so far seems to be sturdy enough to handle the load. This is my first experience at trying to sharpen knives this way so I'm not an expert. I think a little time and experimentation will give results that matter. So far, I think this seems like a sturdy machine.
