Review: Perfect match with the Fives, and great value - After I have used The Fives for a few years, I recently added this subwoofer to them and I am very pleased. The Klipsch connect app helps greatly in fine tuning the sub to the speakers. Sound quality has improved even greater as LFE connection frees the speakers to mid and high end frequencies and route the bass to the sub. The sound from the sub is deep and rich, it is a very powerful sub, I usually find myself using very little gain. Dynamic Base feature on the app is very good, at night i turn it off to not get complaints from the neighbors. It is a plug and play unit, there is no special set up required. As an additional bonus, it is a very stylish sub, especially when the front cover is detached, it has a very sleek and modern look. If you have any specific questions before considering buying this unit, do not hesitate to reach out to me and I will do my best to answer. I would say one of the best subs as far as price vs value out there.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does the phase toggle do? I read ther manual, but it didn't explain it  in a manner I could understand.**
A: Hi Mike, I saw your question and wanted to give you the correct answer. The phase switch determines the way the subwoofer cone ( speaker ) reacts. When set to "0" the speaker cone will move in the outward direction at the same time ( phase ) of your main ( left & Right ) speakers. When it is set to "180" the speaker cone of the sub will move inward when your main speakers' cones are moving outward. What this does is cancel out any overlapping frequencies between your main speakers and your subwoofer. When you have overlapping frequencies between your sub and main speakers you will get too much or "bloated" mid bass. Some people prefer "180" because they feel the cancelled out frequencies produces "tighter" and more accurate bass. Other people like more mid bass, so you need to listen to it both ways to find which you prefer. The same thing will happen if you hook up speakers with the speaker wires hooked up with positive & negative swapped ( positive speaker wire in the negative speaker terminal and negative speaker wire in the positive speaker terminal ).   Just as an added note, the "Low Pass" filter knob will determine what lower frequencies pass through from your receiver to your subwoofer. The higher the frequency (Hz) the more mid bass the sub outputs and the lower the frequency (Hz) the less mid bass that the subwoofer outputs. You want the subwoofer to optimally blend with your main speakers and that is what the "low pass" filter knob allows you to do.    If you are using a surround sound receiver and it is set for Dolby Digital or DTS surround modes receivers will normally automatically crossover the sub output at 80 Hz, so moving the Low pass knob on the sub beyond 80 Hz will have no effect. Now, if you have a surround receiver that utilizes the Audyssey Microphone system to adjust the surround parameters you will want to set the subwoofers low pass knob all the way to the highest frequency. The Adyssey system will determine what frequency blends best with your main speakers. Hope this is helpful.

**Q: how many RCA cables to receiver?**
A: It has two RCA jacks, but if you have only one sub out one cable is fine - plug it into the left channel for mono.

**Q: The subwoofer does a cut off for 2 seconds when I turn the volumen up about 50%, anybody knows why?**
A: Are you hooked up via wireless? Or wired? I know when you turn on your receiver or amp, since I have my sub on auto, it has to receive the signal from the receiver that there are low frequencies before it kicks on. So there is a delay. Once it has a signal of low frequency, it's on. But after I'm cranking music through the sub, I am able to blast more power, volume and it has no delay. It could be the music you're playing doesn't have low enough frequencies. Adjust your receiver or amp to pass all low frequency through to your sub. I'm hard wired to my sub, I do not get a delay,  only on start up.I love my sub! Good luck!

**Q: Can you use with an existing soundbar?**
A: Yes, if your sound bar has a sub output socket. Your user manual should indicate whether or not there is an output for a sub.

After I have used The Fives for a few years, I recently added this subwoofer to them and I am very pleased. The Klipsch connect app helps greatly in fine tuning the sub to the speakers.
