I have used similar battery case products from Alpatronix before for previous generations of iPhone that I have owned. The iPhone 14 Pro does have somewhat longer battery life than the previous iPhone 12 Pro that I owned and I appreciate that improvement from Apple. That said, I use my smartphone continuously and heavily throughout the day for streaming audio and video, business phone calls, business video calls, teaching at a major university, countless apps that I use to manage personal issues, business and leisure travel, photography and recording video. All of that sometimes causes me to travel across time zones where my smartphone needs to remain up and running for all of a 24-hour day or longer. If any of you attend some of the major theme parks it is all but impossible to get through a day without extensive use of their app. Battery life is a major issue for me. It is not always possible to plug the phone in to recharge it. Carrying power banks and cables just adds to the list of items I have to carry around. I find these cases to be a good solution for this problem. I can easily keep my phone functioning for a day or two while at the same time providing protection for the phone using the case. I have found the Alpatronix products to be high quality. They perform as advertised charging my phone when needed and surrounding it with a high quality case that protects it and which allows me to hold the phone in a firm grip without dropping it. The case fits the phone well and does not interfere with the screen protector or the third party lens protector that I have over the camera lenses. The addition of wireless charging adds to the utility of the case and works well with the charging stand I use for my phone, watch and headphones. The utility does have a cost in the form of somewhat increased weight, and added thickness due to the additional battery in the case. I find these to be reasonable tradeoffs for the benefits.

I used to love the brand and have used these charges with my last 3 phones (including my current iPhone) but their quality has seriously tanked. I’ve had my current phone for almost 2 years and I’m on my 5th case due to the charging port constantly braking. One of them ruined the charger when at least 6 of the gold pin contacts broke off while plugging it in and the other 4 had pieces of the plastic around the charging port break off. Both my current case and the one I had before didn’t even last a month before they broke. And when I tried to contact their customer service via email I got nothing but crickets and when I contacted them about the one that had the contacts break off I was told that I must have done something to break it and they refused to cover it under warranty. They say it’s a one year warranty but then either refuse to cover it or just refuse to reply to customer service emails.

My phone was draining battery after downloading iOS 17.2. The iPhones is known for their poor battery life compared to other phones. Now I need access to chargers everywhere I go. I was carrying 3 chargers. I bought this case because I’ve used them in the past and I’ve been very happy with them. Mophie was the go to case until Zagg bought Mophie. I was never able to get tech support from Zagg but Alphatronix has outstanding customer service and they stand behind their product. They don’t use Zen Desk where there’s a phone number that is never answered and the only customer service you can get is a bunch of FAQ. One of the things I look for is a well packaged item. Their packaging is like the box my iPhone came in so there’s no need to pull out scissors or a box knife to open the cheaply packaged case. You won’t be spending time trying to peel the stickers off this case. The quality of the packaging speaks volumes. When I crossed Mophie off my list, I decided to try Alphatronix. That was years ago and I’m still buying their cases. I’ve seen Buyers complain about how difficult it is to get their phone in and out of the case. It’s not difficult at all! It’ll take you 5 seconds or less to put the case on and take it off. This case is solid, protective and it works. Obviously, it’s going to be bigger than other cases because it has a battery! I’ve had many Alphatronix cases over the years and I’ve been very happy with their cases. They still charge wirelessly and the case and phone are charged via lightning pin. If your battery is draining quickly, get one of these!

Followup review: Product failed within one year. Battery will no longer fully charge. Have to remove iphone to charge case as case discharges iphone while charging. Do not recommend. Old review: Works as advertised. High quality. Excellent feel. Well engineered. Slightly weighty. Charges iphone battery first before charging its 6500 mah battery. Only noticeable difference is iphone 14 pro charges slower. Battery arrived fully charged. Very impressed. Works with iOS 17. Update! Product not supported by iOS18.1

As my iPhone 14ProMax ages, it naturally holds less of a charge. I went to a concert the other day and was sad to watch my battery dwindle down to 8% by the time the show was over. This meant that I couldn't record nearly as much photo or video as I wanted to, because the show tickets and seating assignments were solely on my Ticketmaster app, so having my phone die was not an option. That incident spurred the purchase of this device and hence my review. Yes, it fits the phone perfectly. For a backup battery case, it is pretty slim but of course it does add some weight to the device. It's easy to use, easy to see how much charge is left. Yes, you can charge it wirelessly. As for the issues: I believe their claims of how much backup power you get are exaggerated. Taking my iPhone 14ProMax from 20% to about 95% depleted all of the power in the backup bank. Their claims of "being able to fully charge your phone twice" are not true - at least for me. Also, the charging is very slow. I turned on the charging when my phone was at 60% for a quick 'top off' and it seemed to take a very, very long time to get to 63% which is what I happened to see as I was using my phone to scroll social media and send a few texts. It's definitely way slower than other backup batteries I own and far, far slower than plugging it into an outlet. Yes... CarPlay works -- when it wants to. In my previous configuration (no battery case) my CarPlay worked flawlessly 99% of the time. Now, it randomly disconnects and reconnects and sometimes I have to plug it in -- unplug it --- plug it in -- unplug it --- plug it in in order for CarPlay to connect. I was planning on using this as my main daily case, but with the issues mentioned above I don't think that will work. I am keeping the item, however I'll just pop it on for special events, travel, concerts or other times where I know I'll need a little extra juice during that day.

In the last few years, I have several of these charging cases and never experience a problem until earlier this year I have to replace my charger for the new one in April, which only lasted about three months after that an emergency because I was traveling I have to order a new one in three weeks into it use it’s no longer working, the manufacturer change something in the area of the charging force that person into the iPhone that doesn’t quite reach the context for the iPhone that push it from the bottom for it to charge then it would only charge for a few seconds and then go off, I think I’m gonna get this before they sell any other product that is not compliant

Easy to use, but loses charge fairly quickly, even when brand new. Battery was at 20% when activated, it only charged to 49% and the charging case was already at 1bar of 4. Slow charging capability. Otherwise, as promised

The first Alpatronix battery case I purchased was for my work iPhone 14. The case is light weight for a battery case and comfortable to hold. Press and hold the button in the back of the case to start or stop charging. There are five LED indicator lights to estimate the remaining charge remaining on the case. It has come in handy to have the extra charge capability built into the phone case when traveling or in meetings when it is not convenient to plug the phone into a charger. I can get about 1.5 full charges of my iPhone 14 before needing to recharge the battery. I have been using the case for over four months now and haven’t had a single issue with the battery or case. The case and phone can be charged at the same time using the lightning charging port or by placing it on a wireless charging pad. I ended up purchasing two more Alpatronix cases for my personal iPhone 14 Pro and an iPhone 12 for a family member. One thing to note is some screen protectors may interfere with the edge of the case causing it to lift off of the screen. The Alpatronix case comes with a screen protector that is sized and works perfectly with these cases. Bottom Line: This is a fantastic case, relatively light weight, comfortable to hold, and can fully charge your phone.
