I find they take up less room as they are square. They come in many sizes which I need. They are wonderful for storing flour, sugar, beans, pasta, cereals, and other dry goods. I put a piece of clear tape on the jars and write the expiration dates on tape with a felt pen. I store yeast packets in one of the 1/2 liter jars. Love to be able to see what is in the cupboards and they look nice too! I also use the 1.5 liter jars for cookies which I leave on the counter!
