Interesting (Review may contain few spoilers!)
Very good book. It's always nice for one to get back to basic theories and techniques because something new is always there and maybe because one missed some important steps. This book will do fine for that. For ex. (among the other insights) author makes us aware about differences between goal and target and that we need to "raise and send power" twice! With help from this book one will be able to construct simple spells very correctly. It will be clear how to do it. From here you go to the other traditions and advanced texts with much greater confidence. However, I will add something briefly about using the imagination and many authors skip that part: yes, you use imagination to visualize your goal and target BUT you also use visualization when you "Raise and send Power"!!!

Pretty good info
I would love to give a four and a half star, but I wasn't able to. So, I went ahead with the five. I learned a lot and use a lot of what is in here. The half is really only for the length. I would love to have had it longer, but I think that the basics here really mean BASICS. Other than that, super read!

Boring
Hate the format of this book. It's so boring looking it's hard for it to catch my eye long enough for me to want to read it. I'm sure it has a plethora of information in it but I just hate the way the pages look on the inside.

Not Just Beginners, and not just Wicca- Magical Power for Anyone
From the secular or spiritual standpoint, this is the book to start from!Magic/k is not new to me, and I am often disappointed that most offerings on the market are for Wicca, which I do not practice. Enter this book. Starting with one of the best discussions about what magic is, with a most impressive bibliography and use of references, Magical Power For Beginners is anything but students only.Deborah LIpp builds a construction of the relation of everything to the practitioner, and how energy is sourced, raised, and sent. There are even spells to work on given, with all steps referred to from the chapters, bringing the lessons full circle. Or not, as not all traditions cast a circle, and this book respects that. I give this book 5 out of 5, I will have a copy for my bookshelf, and a spare for teaching and lending. Thank you to Llewellyn and Netgalley for the ARC, although all opinions are strictly my own.

Its good
This is actually a very good book written from the perspective of raising and sending magical energy in rituals. It takes away a lot of the dogma usually associated with magic ritual. However there are still a few dogmatic statements the author made that I completely disagree with and some things that could have been left out, however on the whole I found this to be an interesting book written in a straight forward down to earth style with no waffle. It would be of interest to beginners or experienced practitioners.

good for beginners
I think this book is alright for beginners, to get a general grasp of magic and to understand the main components of a spell and how to make one. However, I don't like the way it is written, it's like is not flowing properly.

Amazing book, should be in any newbie witch library and more experienced alike
This book is exactly what I have been looking for since the beginning of my journey on the path. It really takes you through the basics of casting a spell, teaching you how to clearly states your goal, set your intentions, raise energy, direct energy. She also explains how magic works (sympathetic magic, how magic transcend time and space).Along with Mya Om "Energy essentials for witches and spellcasters" "un-spell" book you will be well equipped to create powerful and successful spells.
