For most of my projects, I use a premium zip-tie like a Thomas & Betts Ty-Wrap. But, I was building a wiring harness, and needed something to temporarily hold wires in place - I would be putting them in place and cutting them off when I needed to move wires around. At the end, I would cut all of them off as I sheathed the wires. So, I basically wanted something disposable. These fit the bill perfectly. They were inexpensive so I didn't feel any pangs in my wallet as I used them liberally, then cut them off as things moved around or bundles of wires were finished. The different colors allowed me to color-code different parts as I worked my way through the harness. They were as easy to use as any other inexpensive light-weight zip-tie - a bit too stretchy so my zip-tie gun wouldn't cut them cleanly, not finely adjustable like the T&B ones, etc. But, good enough for what I wanted to do.
