I recently upgraded my home office's out-swinging door with the Electric Magnetic Lock, and wow โ this thing is a beast! If you're looking for fail-safe access control that won't break the bank, stop scrolling and add this to your cart. Right out of the box, the anodized aluminum housing feels premium โ no cheap plastic vibes here. It's corrosion-resistant, lightweight yet insanely sturdy, and the anti-residual magnetism design means zero sticky doors after power cycles. All mounting hardware and a clear template were included โ no hunting for extra screws. Installation (4.5/5) Took me about 45 minutes solo on a wooden out-swing door. Alignment is key (pro tip: use a level and test-fit before drilling), but once dialed in, it snaps perfectly. Wired it to a simple 12V power supply and keypad โ plug-and-play with NC mode (locked when powered, unlocks on blackout for fire safety). Works flawlessly with my existing access system.

So I had a separate idea / project from what this is intended for. No wasnt securing a perimeter door - rather I made something else... that required I cut with a metal grinder the bar it came with... Long story short - the magnet is strong holding TWO pieces (from the original 1 bar) together and the circuit is straight forward to wire up. Great value and kit you get back!

Working as it should. Few things to keep in mind: First, even the slightest separation between magnet and metal will substantially reduce the force of attraction. A thin layer of plastic (plastic wrap!) drops the holding force by about 50% to 75%. Second, if you are using a thinner metal than the one provided the force of attraction will be reduced. How much will depend on the thickness of the metal. So, if the electromagnet is in contact with a 1/4โ iron plate itโs almost impossible to pull them apart.
