Safari Ltd. Hyena Figurine - Lifelike, Hand-Painted 4.25" Model Figure - Educational Toy for Boys, Girls & Kids Ages 3+

Fair Warning: I'm just going to post this in all my animal items needing reviews unless one of them stands out for good or ill. My son has a built up a heck of a collection made up of Papo, Collecta, and Schleich, and Safari Ltd. My son and I, or he and his friend, have enjoyed playing with them, some for several years. As there is often a predator-prey battle, there can be some violent collisions, "clawing", "pouncing upon", etc. The Papo, Schleich, and Collecta are high quality replicas--all good build quality, durable, wonderfully detailed, a good weight and heft but not overly so, and they have held up without any issues (as mentioned, I'll note any exceptions in the individual review). The Safari Ltd. have suffered the most from the treatment, though the vast majority of those creatures have come through relatively unscathed. I'd say they're lesser quality i both durability and craftsmanship, but they are more than adequate for playing even somewhat roughly with. If it has thin legs, or other parts, it might be better to go the Schleich or Collecta, as they really are excellent build quality. But for creatures without a lot of appendages or thin parts (say, a beaver), the Safari are fine, if not quite as nicely made.The hyena is one of the better looking ones, especially in its posing

There are a lot of hyena toy models out there, but this one is the best I've found. It's a great size - not too big, not too small. It's a nice caramel color (not as yellow as the picture shows). The face has to be my favorite part. It's so happy as well as accurate. The feet are a bit uneven on the one I got, but it stands well on a hard surface. I wouldn't call the paint job very fine, but it's not bad either. As far as all the other hyena models I've seen, this one's the best - and it has character.

I have been collecting Safari animal models for years and I have had my fair share of crappy paint jobs and crossed eyes on some of the toys I have gotten from stores around my state but I can actually say this toy/model is Beautiful, Very Realistic and Detailed! I am very happy with my purchase :) I highly recommend this toy for collectors and children alike!

A very nicely detailed and we'll made figure it's very accurate and life like. I used mine for an action figure diorama and it worked perfectly. I recommend this item.

Safari Ltd make great realistic animals. I was especially surprised by the detail on the hyena. I bought for my 9 yr old kid, will be a great addition to the collectionExcellent product !

My grandson loves animals. He has about 100 animal figurines. He was sad b/c he lost another hyena figurine so I purchased this as a replacement. He said "Grandma I love it"!
