Surprisingly great. Bought just to see if it was a upgrade from the stock breville and it's miles better. Looks, feels, and works great!

Very heavy duty tamper and well made, it helps you to get the perfect tamp every time. And the price was great.

The spring feature doesn't do anything on my machine. The grounds are too high in the portafilter for the spring component to engage the portafilter. It works well otherwise, the size is accurate and it's heavy duty.

This tamper is surprisingly serviceable. When I was looking at self levelling tampers, most appear cheap and most are overpriced and most turned me off. This tamper turned out to be made of 3 milled aluminium parts and 1 fairly heavy spring. One does not really need a weight gauge for tamping, nothing much happens past 25LB anyway. This is an affordable, well-made, and self-levelling tamper and does its job perfectly.

Works every time at a great price

The tamper is a good price but not dishwasher safe! Washed it once and all the black coating came off.

You may not agree with my assertion, but if the compression is not consistent, then dialing in the gear is not practical or a good use of time. All of the variables need to be controlled if a reproducible excellent shot is to occur. With this tamper, my new grinder and my faithful machine, I have proved this to myself. As to the quality of this tamper, I could not be happier. High quality material, easy to use and easy to clean. In particular, it produces a consistent depth of compression due to an ingenious collar that limits the exclusion of the plunger. That, with a calibrated spring produces a constant compression pressure. Truly a mission critical quality piece of gear.

This does a great job tamping breville 54mm portafilter. I like that it is spring loaded so I know how much force to apply for a good puck prep. It fits perfectly. Great value.

First off. This is a spring loaded tamp. It needs to be sitting on the porta filter before you press down. My guess is all these reviews that say “false advertising” are ppl holding it and trying to press down. The spring action doesn’t work unless you have it sittting on the porta filter. Works great Feels sturdy and high quality
