One of the best console games out there!
I love this game! The world is interesting to explore, and the graphics still hold up. The main story is interesting and the many side quests are great. There are a lot of choices to be made in this game, and they do affect how you progress in the game, making it re-playable many times. Of course, once you play through the main story, a lot of the surprises are gone, but there is so much else to do that the games stays enjoyable. One of the highlights is the settlement building which gives you so many options! The G.O.T.Y. Edition includes several add-ons as well as the DLC, giving many additional hours of play. The game, even on consoles, supports mods, some of which are quite interesting, but generally I play without mods as they tend to make the game less stable, unless you find the perfect load order for the mods. Overall a great game!

Excellent material excellent game good product
When it comes to modern systems like this you think it's the game but it's really more of the system on how it has set up it was very difficult to set up for a guy like me I'm used to oh you plugged it in and loaded up it's ready to use the system was very difficult though but now that I finally after a month of trying to figure it out I got it figured out it's an amazing game I'm still playing it so it must be good right

War... War Never Changes...
This is my first review in a long time. Hopefully this helps any and all wishing to purchase this version of the game or the game in general. I have always been a Fallout fan starting with Fallout 3 back in the day with my X-box 360. Then I obviously played Fallout New Vegas and now Fallout 4. I have to say, the jump to the next gen consoles went very well for this specific game. It isn't as glitchy as I remember the older games to be. The game looks very good given the type of game it is. For the type of game it is I never really held the game designers too much of a high standard due to the type of game and world they are trying to convey. For example, if you are buying this game expecting graphics like you would see in lets say, Grand Theft Auto. You aren't going to get that due to the world this is trying to depict. You start off as the wanderer of the wasteland, much like every other fallout game you are by yourself sifting through a vast land of fallout nuclear waste. I for one enjoyed the main story line as it sucked me in and it kept me with it until the very end. It took me a while to get around to playing Fallout as I was finishing some other video games as well. However, when I finally got on board and started playing, much like other Fallout games I was unable to put it down for longer then a day as I really wanted to see what happened next. The main story is awesome; it really pulls you in and keeps you busy until you have completed it. Once this is complete there are still numerous side quests that you can complete as well as going back to older settlements that you've already cleared to help them out when under attack. I have to admit sometimes that gets a little annoying but fun nevertheless. This version of the game comes with a cool pip-boy as well as a steelebook of the game. Some cool notes as well which I enjoy. Fallout and Assassins Creed are really the only games I pay the extra money for when it comes to collector’s editions because you seem to get the best bang for your buck with these versions. I don't want to go into to much just in case you haven’t actually played the game yet. I DID NOT download or play any of the DLC so this review is based off of the regular stand alone game. However, if you are in the market to pick up the game and don't want to purchase the Pip-Boy edition the G.O.T.Y version is the way to go. You get everything the regular game has to offer alone with all of the additional DLC. Overall I give them game a 7.5 out of 10. The game itself is awesome; the graphics are good but still look a little like New Vegas and Fallout 3 to me. The music is great and commentary is awesome. The main story is fun to play along too, the side quests are fun as well but they do tend to get a little annoying as well. Hope you enjoyed the review and it helped you out! Now, get back out there and explore the wasteland!!!

Post-Nuclear Heaven - but check your specs
The story, gameplay, plot, and characters are all amazing. This game is a far improvement over Fallout 3 and it does indeed have a familiar, yet very different feel that works incredibly well. When you also combine the vast depth of crafting, trading, and settlement system this game is on a completely different level. Even the combat feels far more fun and I have yet to put a reason as to why - it just is. I'll let you read the dozens of positive reviews but if you're looking to get lost in a post nuclear world and learn to survive and thrive than this is the game for you. However, there are things to consider before getting this game: 1. Downloading: No matter how you get it for the PC you have to download parts of the game and depending on your connection, it could take a while. I have a fantastic provider so total installation time took around 40 minutes. This is an anti-pirating movement and is the way of the future for all games out there so it's just something we're all going to have to deal with as the folks who pirate software have forced the industry into this. 2. Steam: You need steam to play and yet again this is another anti-pirating movement. See above. 3. Know the minimum PC requirements: This game has minimum requirements set for a reason. If you don't meet the requirements then you can expect issues - it's as simple as that. On my 4 year old gaming PC (with only 6GB RAM and 1GB graphics card) it runs fine on high settings with some frame issues during certain scenes, but that's to be expected on a 4 year old PC. My friends’ 4 year old gaming PC does not meet the CPU or graphics card requirements and the game does not even load. 4. Crashes: The game may crash. I have not had any issues with this but others have (such as my friend). Make sure to appropriately update all your drivers, your operating system, and any other necessary system updates. Crashing sucks so contact both your hardware manufacturer and game tech support for further assistance and be VERY specific with your issues and system build. Be patient - the game is brand new and there's bound to be issues. 5. Bugs: The game will have bugs that overtime will likely be addressed. The game is both massive in scale and complicated. By default that's what sandbox games are. It's impossible to playtest every potential factor and possibility i've yet to encounter a main quest line becoming broken. 6. Poor Graphics: While subjective, I would say the the visuals are very fitting for the development/release date. No it's not cutting edge visuals and rendering but it is a sandbox game and therefor has certain restrictions that come with it. Graphics are important but gameplay is a priority and while we would all love for this look cutting edge next gen. it looks very good on the higher end settings and is playable by a wide audience, rather than power gaming PC's. I’m sure someone will make a extreme HD texture pack for those who want to lick their screens. 7. It's Boring: I would suggest at least 24 hours of game play are necessary to really get aquainted with how the game plays and explore some of the incredible locations within. Short of exploring the edges of the city, doing some gun/armor smithing, and tinkering with settlements will not give the full scope of what this game is all about. The difficulty setting can be adjusted at any time and I personally avoid the VATS system and free range it. Overall it's fantastic, full of character and I would agree with the predictions that this game is going to clean house as Game of the Year.

Say goodbye to your sex life and hello to the wasteland!
Firstly, yes. It is true. This game will suck your lifes precious fluids from you, but not in an as pleasing fashion as thus performed yearly on your birthday by the one you will come to neglect after this purchase. The Pip Boy edition despite some brats crying about the fact it's plastic and looks cheap is AWESOME. It supplies you with a wearable pip boy you can slide your nifty Android device into with an app to give it a pip boy upgrade, or an over priced status symbol that usually comes with a scarf and latte(aka iPhone) This edition also supplies you with a nifty crate that holds the Pip Boy so you can stash it with bottle caps, pornography, evidence or blackmail. It really has no end to its uses! As for the game itself well. prepare for the beginning of the end my friends. The game is just what you'd expect of Fallout. It's endless hours of staring at yourself in character creator trying to decide if you make a creeper with paper thin whisp of hair or you're one of those who feels compelled to try and make the least like yourself game version of, yourself...Moving on! The story is a hell of a lot of fun. More so if you decide to be a rebel and go against what the game -wants- you to do. I won't spoil anything, unless you pay me in bottle caps. With the new crafting system the game really feels like Skyrim was drunk as usual and brought back Fallout 3 to it's manor for some romantic fiddling in the dim light of candle while snow gentle painted the windows outside. I'm not saying the game will wrap you up in a blanket of love and warmth and whisper sweetly like a mother to a child how happy it is you're back in the wasteland and listening to the same songs endlessly for hours, or keep you from realizing you haven't showered in days. But I am saying it is a possibility. If it happens you likely need to lay off of one drug or the other. Rethink your life. In the end this game is amazing and well worth the cost. Be it the Pip Boy edition, or standard edition. I can at least say with the cost of the game you get exactly what you'd expected to pay for, unlike EA chopping up a Star Wars game and selling it off in sections to milk you of hard earned money leaving you feeling like a used street walker just waiting for Richard gere to rescue you. This game will not make you feel that way. You get a completed game with this purchase. So do it. JUST DO IT!

A Fantastic Collector's Edition Worth Owning
The Pip-Boy Edition (collector's) allows every fan to live out their dreams of roaming the wasteland with nothing but their jumpsuit and trusty PIP-BOY Model 3000 MK IV. From the safety of their living room. The Collector's Edition comes packaged in a wonderful looking Pip-Boy Crate. Press the side latches to open the center. Inside, you'll find the centerpiece PIP-BOY and the game placed stealthily at the top. The game comes in a metal case and includes the Steam Key needed to redeem the game (you can't play without registering it on Steam). Also included is a large fold out "map" featuring the Perks for Fallout 4. The Pip-Boy itself is the main reason you're reading. It's surprising sturdy, made with hard plastic and two metal clasps. Inside is a foam insert so your arm fits comfortably. There is also a velcro strap to ensure it doesn't fall off or move around. My forearm is quite large and I find the velcro to be unnecessary. The top opens up to reveal the compartment where you can rest your phone. I have a Galaxy s5. It did NOT fit well. I had to press very hard to make it fit, and while it did, I needed to get a hard, flat object (I used a sculptor's file) to get it back out. Despite not fitting well, the app looks amazing set inside the Pip-Boy. It DOES link up with your game, and you can use it to navigate the menus, see the map, and play the various holodisks you find (minigames). Very cool feature. It comes with a stand that you can set it on if you'd rather admire it, or need a break from killing deathclaws (or radroaches for you greenhorns). I did do one boneheaded thing - I did not read the instructional manual before checking out the Pip-Boy. Because of this, I discovered some of the "interactive" buttons and dials to be a bit flimsy. You can twist and turn a few of them, but as you can see in one of the photos, I ended up popping the top button (7 in the manual) in. I mistakenly thought this was the way to open the top. Even though I'm disappointed and a little sad that I've already broken my Pip-Boy (Bethesda - any suggestions?), it still looks very nice and will be an excellent addition to my collector's shelf. All in all, if you can afford to purchase the Pip-Boy Edition and are a fan of Fallout, I recommend grabbing one. The Pip-Boy is fantastically designed, and unlike some collector's editions, looks built to last. Final Verdict: Great Purchase! PS. There are a lot of negative reviews right now. Please check my photos and review the video to decide for yourself.

which I would recommend. The build your own settlement system is awesome ...
This game is just what I wanted. I can roam the wasteland alone or with a multitude of companions. The companions can get involved in the story also, often offering they're opinion on things. You can unlock exclusive perks by maxing out their affinity, which I would recommend. The build your own settlement system is awesome for sure, even if it's a little primitive in it's current state. Mods will likely fix that. By the way playing this on a PC is a must if you want to get the most out of your fallout experiance(sp?). The main quest is pretty awesome and rather deep considering past fallout games. Choices DO matter in this game and can have advantages or consequences latter in the game with out going into detail. Eventually you will have to pick a side and one or more factions may become hostile at a certain point, like most fallout games. The game play in this edition is significantly improved and feels much more streamlined compared to past titles. There are still plenty of enemy bullet sponges though. New to this game is "Legendary Enemies or Monsters" which will often drop unique or legendary equipment. Speaking of equipment, the weapon and armor mod and upgrade system is fantastic, and well thought out, though if you want the high ranking upgrades you will have to purchase the appropriate perks in the SPECIAL tree. Often with multiple tiers. Speaking of the SPECIAL system in the game it returns in this title but with a few changes, for the better though. No longer are your upgrades linear or "on a rail". If you have the appropriate amount of points in your strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility, or luck you can go ahead and grab that perk you've been eyeing down the accompnying (sp?) skill tree even if you don't have the ones before it. The only part of the game I find to be disappointing is some of the textures in the graphics. I feel like Bethesda dropped the ball on this. I mean how much harder would it have been to clean up the textures on the NPC's outfits. It just screams LAZY. Other than some specific textures the graphics are pretty good, and great if you have a PC that can handle multiple texture mods, along with lighting and ENBs. The graphical concept is similar to fallout 3 with destruction and ruin all around for you to explore. BTW explore everywhere, there is always something good to find. All in all this is an excellent game for you to just loose yourself in. I wish there was a 4.5 star to give because at this point in the industry fallout 4's graphics should just be better. I will round it up to 5 though because it certainly deserves it due to all of the other awesomeness. Also, I've just barely scratched the surface of this game and would need several pages for a proper review. Thanks for the great game Bethesda! Clint Groesbeck AKA hotdogGT.

A Fun And Immersive Game
I wouldn’t say I’m a die-hard Fallout fan, I’ve played all of them but New Vegas, which I’m doing a play through of now. I’ve liked them but never felt the same way toward the series as I do the Elder Scrolls. I think Fallout 4 is a well done evolution in the series with a few missteps thrown in. I think a review should be written for people unfamiliar with the product but I’ll assume if you’re checking this game out you kind of know the basic mechanics of RPGs. The perk system (how you develop your character’s skills and abilities) has been controversial. I actually like it. It’s not dumbed down by any means. What you decide to put points in really affects game play. For my first character I invested most of my points in perception at the expense of charisma which made some of the better settlement building features unobtainable for a long time. While it doesn’t come up as often as it does in earlier games there are some conversation options you can miss out on also. Do you want to be a better shot or open advanced safes? I find myself trying to be careful of how I build my character. I like that you have to wait to reach a certain level before you can invest a perk in a higher level skill. That seems to keep things balanced. The down side is that a lot of choices you make don't really effect people's attitude toward you. You can be a sarcastic jerk but the dialog usually goes the same regardless. I haven't finished the main quest line yet but it sounds like your play style doesn't have a lot of influence. EDIT on 4/24/2016: I just finished the main story line quest and I have to say it was pretty well written. There were a few twists I didn't see coming and I don't want to give anything away but the faction I choose led to a pretty dramatic and emotionally satisfying ending for me. I did see where the poor dialog system did interfere with what I wanted my character to say. The world is huge but doesn’t feel as desolate as Fallout 3’s Washington D.C. I’m honestly not sure which aesthetic I like more. D.C. had huge collapsed ruins everywhere and felt more like a ruined wasteland. The Commonwealth feels more crowded, you have more stuff to do but that means more people to interact with so I guess it’s a trade off. I find myself wondering why civilization hasn’t been rebuilt with as many people as there is running around. I’ve never really enjoyed playing with companions and while the AI seems improved over past Elder Scrolls/Fallout games they still get in the way. I love dogs so I usually just have Dog Meat follow me around. I really enjoy Piper though, the voice acting is superb and her mannerisms are realistic and distinct. The animation, lip syncing and character model are a little rough though. The same goes for a lot of the NPCs. Dogmeat's reactions and behavior are very realistic. Maybe that’s why his constantly getting in my way doesn’t bother me much; it reminds me of my dog. I think where this game really shines is the little details. The armor feels like a real science fiction suit of power armor now unlike Fallout 3. Your point of view is higher and you are definitely tougher. You get the armor and a minigun early on but it's balanced by the speed at which you use up the power core for the suit and a lack of ammunition for the gun. Watching a pack of feral ghouls flailing and running at you out of control can be exciting and watching them stumble as you time your dodge at the last minute feels realistic and gratifying. Each enemy has a distinct behavior. They seem to be more fleshed out than previous games. The sound effects are phenomenal. Distant fire fights sound like real gun battles. Visual effects are equally impressive. When a hand grenade goes off it’s very cinematic as the shockwave expands out and debris flies everywhere. I’m not a huge fan of a voiced protagonist but I’m more indifferent to it than disappointed. The same goes for the new dialog system. I would prefer it would display everything you were going to say but I haven’t really run into any problems as far as role playing goes. The writing is decent and I think is an improvement of the past games. Dialog feels more natural. All in all I think games like this are at a disadvantage right out of the gate because everyone wants more of the same only better. If you take this game solely on it’s own merits it is an outstanding game that you can really take some time to enjoy. This has been my favorite Fallout game so far and one of my favorite games of the year. Survival Mode edit: I've been playing on survival mode for my latest play through and I have to say it adds a completely different dimension in a good way. It can be frustrating to lose a half an hour or more of gameplay and the necessity of sleeping to save can feel contrived but it really forces you to evaluate your strategies and do some pre-planning. There is something stressful and intense about just travelling through the wasteland searching for a bed or some safe haven that the original release of the game didn't offer. This mode is a big plus in my opinion.
