Are these made from healthy, grass-fed cows?

I contacted the company and found out that none of their glandulars are from organic/pasture raised/grass raised cows. These likely came from cheep CAFO cows. I love to find the best bang for my buck, but sometimes you get what you pay for....

Is this process lyophilized using benzene?

Swanson brand glandular supplements are made only from raw, cold-processed bovine glandular tissue collected at USDA-inspected facilities. This high-quality tissue is desiccated (dried), de-fatted (when applicable) and powdered at cGMP certified laboratories in Nebraska. Antibiotics are not used on the cattle which provide the raw tissue/glandular used. All our products are tested and BSE Free. We can’t say the animals are grass-fed. The freeze-drying process uses a vacuum technique--no chemicals involved.

Can you open the capsules?

I did not open it completed, but I was able to twist one end of the capsule. That should indicate that the capsule can be opened.
