Worked as Expected
Used this on both a modern (2022 model year) 12sp Shimano XT rear cassette and a vintage (1998 model year) 8sp Shimano XT rear cassette without issue. Not terribly heavy duty and I wouldn’t recommend for shop use, but totally fine for the home mechanic at a fraction of the cost of a Park Tool chain whip.

For the light jobs
The tool works however it isn't very heavy duty. I bent it the first time I tried to remove the lock ring on my cassette. I bent it back and was able to ultimately get the lock ring off. Keep in mind a lock ring really needs a good impact to get it moving, so you've got a lot of torque acting on this tool as the backup. In order to be able to hold it securely you've got to go up to one of the larger cogs, which can introduce a bit of a side moment since you're getting further from the lock ring. Because the tool is flat, its not very resistant to this side moment. So you can make it work but you've got to be careful not to let it twist at all.

Cheap quality for easy jobs
Bends very easily, bent the first time I used it. If you are looking to take a cassette off of an well used bike don't even bother with this, just save your time and buy park tool.If your only gonna take off a casette on a new bike this might work for you but be very gentle. Very.
