It really works well in general
This is the first product I've purchased/used from NOYAFA. I chose this one after investigating a bit on similar testers from this brand and others. I got the deal from this seller with 15% off and I am happy with the purchase. I needed the tester to identify active network cables connected to an unmanaged gigabit switch and also to POE devices and I can confirm that the digital mode worked perfect for this. There are very useful functionalities on the meter and all of them seems to work well, EXCEPT for the cable length function. I consider it unreliable. The results are off and if you run the same tests many times against the same cable, you may receive different readings. It's a pretty good and useful device for my collection. The cable length outcome can be read in both meters (default) and feet. Just need to hold for 1 second the wire tester function button. The ambient temperature also default to Celsius. It can be switch to Fahrenheit as well by holding for 1 second the multimeter function button. The battery last forever. I was intentionally using it constantly for two days and one bar was deducted per day. Personally, I don't like the clicky buttons. I'd prefer a more soft touch buttons but that is just my preference. The multimeter functionality is a plus and it works well.

Underrated Network Cable Tester - It is excellent!
At this price range I really wasn't expecting anything special, but I was pleasantly surprised!-- tl;dr Great testing capabilities not just for optical fiber, but also for RJ45 Ethernet cables. My old network tester finally bit the bullet and I needed one which can test optical fiber anyway so went looking for a budget friendly Network Cable Tester. There are a few different types of devices which can test both optical and ethernet cables. The sub $50 category has some junky ones where they have a nice LCD screen but the screen is not used for test Ethernet (RJ-45) cables. Instead they use the little red LED lights under the screen which cycle through each wires connection status. This is certainly considered subpar now a days. And considering I still do plenty of Ethernet (mainly Cat6A) cables, I wanted a better option. Then there are some devices which are over $300 and these can do OTDR testing on optical cables (which is a more in depth test type than just VFL types like this one. But even some of those did not have good option for testing Ethernet cables. Then I ran in to this NF-8505. It is a really good balance. It gives you good level of testing capabilities for BOTH optical cables AND ethernet cables.Take a look at the instruction manual (attached screenshot) on how easy it makes identifying cabling issues. Plus it does sport showing GROUND connection, which is important when working with grounded/shielded cables. For the next generation of ethernet connectivity supporting 10GbE, shielded CAT6a cable (STP/SFTP) is the way to go, but you need a tester like this which can show you proper GROUND connection. The product information on this page does not show or state anything about the GROUND test, but look at my screenshots, for cables which have a ground/shielding it shows the GROUND "G". If ground is not properly connected the "G" will be absent.Only CON I've seen is that it strangely does not know how to negotiate power over USB-C even though it has a USB-C charging port (On both the transmitter and receiver). I think the manufacturer felt the pressure to switch from Micro-USB to USB-C and just replaced the port and not the supporting chipset. This means you must use a USB-A to USB-C cable (included) to charge the device, but if you use a USB-C to USB-C it will not charge.

This is an AWESOME product!!
With everything this little product does, you do not need all those extra's, we all carry... but I still will! I have bought highend expensive FOX/HOUND setup and they never seem to get a good lock or loud enough. This thing works great and at long distances. The cable tester is spot on as I made some good and bad connectors to test. and it is spot on! My only two real negatives but are not critical, is the cable measurer, I do not believe is totally accurate and the over all plastic housing seems a little cheap. But I take care of my tools and for the PRICE... I wont buy the expensive brand again! Thank you!

It at least turns on
I haven't tested all functions, but the cable length tester is worthless. This is a very important function for me It isn't even close. Numbers are imaginary. Tried on multiple premolded cables as well of various lengths in both CAT5 and 6.

No instructions
So bad I ordered the next unit up and those instructions worked for both models.
