Specifications New Features - Decoy Mount One Drive, Two Realities. Protect Your Absolute Privacy. Introducing the Decoy Mount technology . When under duress or forced security inspection, entering a pre-configured decoy (User 4)password instantly mounts a dummy virtual drive(4.VHD) while completely vanishing your primary data. No trace, no unallocated partitions—just standard, clean storage to the examiner's eye. Smart Password Duplicity Multi-PIN Authentication - Access your primary vault with your ADMIN PIN. Enter your Decoy(User 4) PIN to activate Decoy Mount Mode instantly. Pure Hardware Emulation - Unlike software hidden containers that leave suspicious unallocated space, IODD emulates a perfect physical drive structure. Even advanced forensic tools see only a standard formatted drive. HARDWARE-LEVEL Deception Immediate Virtual Swapping - The moment the decoy pin is entered, the real VHD is completely unmounted at the hardware level, rendering it mathematically inaccessible until a cold reboot. AES 256-BIT XTS ROBUST SECURITY - Works directly with IODD's onboard cryptographic engine to ensure your hidden data remains heavily encrypted even if the drive is physically disassembled. Plausible Deniability Mode Perfect for global business travelers facing mandatory border inspections. Must-have physical storage for security experts protecting sensitive networks. Essential fallback plan for journalists safeguarding confidential sources. Securely isolates high-stakes intellectual properties and financial data. Tactical solution for defense contractors handling classified field data. Prevents critical source code or hardware schematics from unauthorized leakage. Ideal for attorneys carrying privileged client files under strict compliance. Ultimate personal data vault for individuals demanding absolute privacy control. Just prepare ISO/VHd/IMA files. OS installation/application installation/server maintenance A CD/DVD/USB memory stick is required in various environments. IODD completely replaces them. Prepare ISO file only. Copy IODD. Mount with IODD. It will act like a real media drive. Make your work faster with mounted virtual drives From OS installation to maintenance Use the speed of USB 3.1gen1, which is much faster than the speed of optical media or USB memory sticks. MAX 4 Virtual Drives Implement 4 virtual drives at the same time. Mount 1 ODD / 3 VHD at the same time. Boot into a virtual drive in a native environment, work with the virtual drive, and install the OS on the virtual drive. Reduce errors due to logical drive corruption or incorrect target drive assignments. UEFI/Legacy Boot From old PCs to modern PCs, Both UEFI and Legacy methods are supported. Install Legacy in virtual ODD mode through ISO file. Install UEFI using virtual VHD setup depending on your situation. The world's Many PC manufacturers use IODD as standard installation equipment. ST series has a higher recognition rate. No more burning CDs/DVDs One IODD can store dozens to hundreds of media. It is very easy to manage the version of the installation disk. Save time to burn and collect CD/DVD Remarkably faster installation speed than existing optical media AES256-XTS Encryption Enhanced security more advanced security algorithms The password supports up to 76 digits (basic 38 digits + 2nd 38 digits) Random keypad makes it safer to use Enter the password accurately with the 12 Keys Tactile-Switch padlock 2nd Password If the IODD device paired with the disk is changed with the 2nd password, security verification is attempted once more. Advantages of the introduction of 2nd passwords Completely blocks brute force attacks. Duplicating dozens or thousands of encrypted drives is useless without a 2nd password. For multi users Admin mode(Built-in)/Admin manager(Windows APP) Up to 5 people can access each IODD device with their own password. Review: You gotta get an IODD! - Almost any pro IT guy - and most vaguely geeky hobbyists - who's had a chance to play with one of my IODD drives, ends up buying one :D They're all good - the older 2.5" ones became a staple of my toolkit, previously resold in EU under Zalman branding, and they've just got better since - going from USB 2 to USB 3, adding a full keypad and screen for better UI, more compact options (the IODD mini) and then this, bringing the newer interface to 2.5", along with - praise be! - a USB C port! The build quality is pretty nice too, a step up from before - I really like the clicky button feel on the keypad and it feels nice and solid in general. This is now my primary workshop IODD with an IODD mini in the go-bag :) Yes, you can use Ventoy. But this is like ventoy in hardware :) It works - nearly everywhere, nearly every time. It identifies as the emulated device down to the BIOS level, works with fussy servers, and makes it pretty much impossible to pick the wrong drive or accidentally overwrite your USB key during an install. I use a range of USB thumb drive images for various purposes - some copied from actual keys I had floating around or loaned. And USB HDD images to keep a Windows2Go install handy at all times (and a Debian install as well!). And of course, a full library of ISOs, from proliant service packs to windows 10/11/server to truenas to proxmox to pfsense to firmware update discs for SSDs and diagnostic toolkit discs. Get one :) And this particular one is a good choice, if you don't need it to be tiny - check the IODD mini for that! Give it a nice big SSD and load it all up!
Review: Fantastic Product - This has to the second best product I have used the 1st was my other iODD device which had broken from being used so much. This is such a great idea and much better I can use an SSD now not the M2 I had to but to upgrade my older model. It is really good value for money and the so easy to use and great performance. If you have a fast SSD then the speed is better but I think even a slower SSD would still be better than a load of USB drives

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can someone please run a crystaldiskmark and post the result please?**
A: Additionally for Developer/IT/Tech Savvy perspective:

I would measure IODD Mini's internal ISO emulation performance against real CD/DVD mechanical drive (assuming that I still has a reliable one laying around), it shows from my test results that the IODD Mini's internal ISO mounted volume is equivalent to (at minimum) 90x read performance vs real mechanical DVD/CD read performance (which is commonly rated as 4x 8x 16x 24x +/- the actual quality of actual DVD/CD media inserted), installing VM Server 2003 fresh setup & install start to finish barely took 6 minutes (assuming good hardware/spec system).

**Q: Hi, could i replace original ssd to a 2to ssd (sata m2b+m key). i understood for warranty will be void but it is physically possible?**
A: Yes you can, but the SSD Max power consumption may be lower than 2W.
Internal interface: M.2 NGFF 42mm
all warranties are invalidated (IODD MINI body and m.2 ssd)
thanks!

**Q: Will you release an nvme-based, usb type-c, 10gbps version?**
A: t will be some time before chipsets are cheap enough and good enough for all 3 of those features. Intel is still having trouble with PCIe 4.0 and only AMD has chipsets to handle the new generation of NVMe speeds that came with it. Newer, faster stuff is always coming out so you get the best you can at the time you need it and worry about the next gen later. As for the IODD Mini, I wish they had designed it to hold an M.2 2280 instead of the shorter M.2 2242 SSD's it holds, but other than that it's great. Sometime in the future another generation will be much faster and I will probably buy one of those when it's out. I've worn out older IODD devices and this is my 4th. The 2nd(2531) vanished and 3rd(another 2531) is still running but the Mini is so much better that I don't use it much anymore. You can buy a USB 3.0 to USB C cable or just an adapter and use it in a USB-C port. It's not as fast as the fastest USB-C devices you can buy but it's the fastest you can mount ISO's and/or VHD's and get use out of. It's so easy that I don't have to carry a bunch of USB drives and can get away with it and a single USB drive(in case I need to do something special like make a bootable USB but can't do it as a VHD or ISO. Once you have one and get all your stuff setup on it, you will wonder how you got anything done without it. I would love to see a faster one(or even larger capacity than 1Tb) but I don't think they would sell a bunch if it had to carry a $1000 price tag. They will come out with a new version when the numbers make sense as they need to actually sell them to stay in business. They tried to bring a version of the Mini to market several years ago but had to wait for the parts to get cheap enough that they could sell them to more than a couple people with deep pockets. There was little buyer interest when the price was much higher so don't expect a 10Gbps version until you see PCIe 4.0 NVMe showing up in more than just AMD motherboards. It may be an even longer wait as it still has to make sense to produce them at a price they will sell in decent volume.

**Q: When will Russia shipping be available?**
A: This is item will be sold world wide in Amazon global selling after November.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A better design than the awkward to use old metal-cased step-wheel model.
*by Q***R on 12 July 2025*

Fitting my 1TB 2.5" SSD was easy, the button grid made it much easier to use, It's probably faster, and has a much neater USB-C connector, which also allows use with a USB-C to USB-C lead, e.g. useful for direct use with a mobile, to transfer stuff when a booted PC is not handy. My contained 1TB SSD was formatted as NTFS, NOT ExFAT(!), contains many isos, Linux and Windows installers, docs, an ODS partition planning spreadsheet, and most of the PortableApps apps. This is far superior to Ventoy on a USB stick, because unlike Ventoy, you have optional direct HD partition access, and 2.5" SSDs are far faster and more reliable the USB sticks, e.g. an 256GB intenso one I have seemed to be fine, but flaky sometime, but more iffy than I had thought, because it over-heated/throttled a lot during several minute mass-transfer, even hanging Linux, and stalling boot after hard-reset, and ExFAT corruption can't be reliably spotted/fixed on Linux! On Linux, never use ntfsfix for NTFS, it's worse than useless, instead use Windows chkdsk, or find and try the Paragon NTFS utilities.
