The price of the book versus the contents of the book
I have purchased this item sold by Amazon on 29 Oct 2018 and I started to wander what I have bought: a book or very poor edited sketchbook by Tracey Ellen Frances. I am not satisfied, not at all. I wish I could give O as overall rating. I hoped I will find some answers for my questions about gesture drawing. What I have found are 40 poor quality pictures of dynamic poses of several models without even one word of explanation. For the author of this book such words as structure and gesture does not exist. Sorry, but the Internet is full of pictures of dynamic poses and they are for free, while I have paid for this book 17.98 Euros plus shipping and handling - together almost 30 Euros. Paying 30 Euros for totally useless book for the student is a bit too much. Look inside the book. Page number does exist, index also. OK. Small mistake of the editor so I looked then at the Figure 3. ... Some models and or poses inspire softer gesture and contour lines ... I tried to decipher what she meant by saying this. Without success. Figure 3 is almost not readable. Apart from that some poses are anatomically incorrect!!! Tracey Ellen Frances wrote about herself " Having studied at the American Academy of Art with the intention of becoming a medical illustrator, she got sidetracked and become a union carpenter (something about tools...) ." Now we have the answer why some published poses are anatomically incorrect. So I tried to find the name of the publisher on the pages of the book. No name of publisher, no the colophon. On the Amazon page Publisher: CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform (30 Jan 2017) so be careful.
