Works Great
I bought this brand of water timers 20 years ago to fill my pool. The main reason I bought it because I was filling the pool and went to the movies without turning the water off. When I got home the pool was just starting to overflow. The timer has worked great for 20-years but the dial was getting a little warn and the body was starting to leak a little. I bought the same brand again because 20-years in the hot sun has proven to me that this is a very reliable timer. I highly recommend it. It's simple and works. There are a lot of Wi-Fi enabled products out there, but this simple timer avoids all the possible problems with Wi-Fi.One thing to make sure you do is to turn off the water to relieve the pressure on the timer.

Started leaking right out of the box
I've used a number of these over the years and had no problems ordering this one. But it leaks the first time I hooked it up. Not where the hose hooks up, but the side facing the body of the timer. I sent it back to get a refund. I don't need it anymore, we are heading into Nov. But the message I got from the company said it has to be in unused condition to get credit. That makes no sense to me. You have to use it to find out if it's defective or not! This is my favorite timer so I'll order another one next spring. I'll see how it goes.

Adding water to the pool
Once you have set your timer to desired number of minutes DO NOT TURN TIMER OFFmanually. That will probably ruin the timing device. I learned thatmany years ago. Just let the time run out.ONCE I HAVE SET THE TIMER, I NEVER LOWER THE TIME manually.I either turn water flow down via the hose knob or shut off water altogetherand let timer continue to run.ALWAYS turn timer past 10 minute mark (sometimes more). Most any timerrequires that. I have one in every bathroom for exhaust fan and always turnpast 10 mins. No problems with them after 5 years still function properly.Owned this timer for a couple months. Works well so far & better thanprevious timer I owned. One of the key aspects, for me, is that it not leak when timer shuts off. Otherwisenot much point in having it. I do try to shut off water flow when not in use.Not over tightening is also very important. put just enough pressure to ensureno leaks. Not sure how much; turn on water with timer attached. Set for 15 minutesno leaks your good to go. If leaking tighten until it appears to stop.DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN once leaking stops. It can cause cracking and then it willleak.Hope this helps

Very disappointing!
We have used and been very happy with this type of Melnor Mechanical timer ten or more years. We purchased two new ones on April 21, 2024 one for the back yard and one for the front yard. The one in the back yard quit working last week and so we ordered another one to replace it. The new one was ordered on July 9, 2024. It was connected for about two days and it fell apart. I don't know if they are no longer made as well as they used to be or what. We don't mind replacing them when they last a year or more but this is unacceptable. Today, we ordered another timer which is from a different supplier and of a different style so hopefully the new one will last longer than these two. The timer we have for the front yard is still working.

Was my favorite garden timer .....
I've purchased four of the Melnor 65136AMZ Mechanical Timers over the last five years. They usually last about a year (or more) ... but eventually in timer mode, it cannot shut off the water and will drip when the timer shuts off, so I replace them and we're off and running again. This is the first time I've had one act squirrelly out of the box. It works fine in the timer mode, but I cannot turn it to "Manual ON" ... it just pops back into the off position. This is not a big deal, and not worth returning as I can just set the timer for an hour or more when hand watering, but something to check out and make sure it functions properly. One plus of having to use timer mode ... now when I set the hose down and forget I left if "on", it will eventually shut off!

YES! 1,000X YES!!
If you own a pool or hot tub, GET THIS PRODUCT!! Our pool guy put us onto this after we flooded our pool multiple times. We are busy, we’re also ADHD-AF in this house, and while we would set timers to go turn the hose off, we’d either have to keep checking and eventually get distracted or just forget in the first place. This has more than paid for itself already. You turn on the water by turning the timer valve (but can bypass it if you’re using the hose for gardens or other purposes) and then can walk away and forget it. It’s brilliant. I 💯 recommend this for every single pool and spa owner, or those prone to forgetting to turn their sprinklers off. I am not the kind of girl who does hands-on work and I hate touching dusty metal or dirty thing and have very weak hands (all a product of my generation I suppose) and even I could install this without my husband. Brilliant Product and SO easy to install and use! 💯 get it!!
