A treasure trove of good advice about what good healthcare looks like.
Dr Farrago has walked the walk of leaving a system he no longer felt proud to be a part of to join the movement to bring back the doctor patient relationship. He has a lot of great wisdom to share, and he does it with a sense of humor that keeps you both turning the page…and wanting to be a part of this return to good healthcare.

One stop shop
Hi, I really enjoyed Direct Primary Care. I thought it was a great one stop shop introductory book to DPC. It does an excellent job of outlining what makes DPC different from traditional fee-for-service primary care and, also helps to explain the economics of this style of practice. Most importantly for me, it helped me to understand that the type of patients at thrive in DPC are those with a high deductible insurance plan but are willing to pay over their monthly premium for high value subscription-based Direct Primary Care. I’m sure that each reader will extract a different key message from the book but, overall I thought it was a great read and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn about or, certainly start, their own DPC clinic.

Great read but pages fall out!
Great read! The book binding process flawed. Pages fell away from spine of book with simply turning of page. If book opened up wide more pages would likely come out.

Your purpose will be your guide
The power of this book comes from the fact that it can show you the practical steps for opening your own direct care office. We all learn best from past mistakes but it’s so much less painful to learn from the mistakes of others than from your own. This book is a great guide to help you avoid wasting time with things that don’t work and sets realistic expectations for the need to be patient when starting up.

#1 source for starting a DPC practice!
If you had to get just one book to get you started with a DPC practice, this is it. The chapters are easy to read, remember, and offer encouragement wherever you are on your journey. The writing is honest and vulnerable so it doesn't feel like your typical "how-to" guide book. Highly recommend!

Overall good book
Overall a good book with lots of great tips for those looking at starting a DPC practice. If you are sensitive like I am to antiquated and derogatory words such as “physician extenders” and “mid levels,” then this book promises to be a painful read. Otherwise a good book with only a few typos (20019 is a year I guess).

Great synopsis on steps to take to start a DPC and what to look forward to, once you get there. Definitely will re read and use this book as a guide.

informative and insightful
Dr. Farrago has a knack for identifying and describing the ills that plague primary care medicine. He is a champion as well as a model for the solution: Direct Primary Care. His book thoroughly and succinctly outlines the purpose, the process, and the problems of starting a DPC practice .
