Great value for the price
I picked up this Etekcity infrared thermometer and it’s been great for the price. It’s super easy to use, just point and pull the trigger, and you get a reading almost instantly. It’s accurate enough for what I need and works well for checking temps on engines, brakes, or around the garage. For something this inexpensive, it feels solid and reliable. It’s not a high-end precision tool, but for everyday use it gets the job done without any issues. These typically have a wide temp range and fast response time, which makes them useful for everything from automotive work to cooking or general diagnostics. Pros • Very affordable • Quick and easy to use • Fast readings • Good enough accuracy for most uses Cons • Not a precision instrument Overall, for the price, this is a really useful tool to have around. I’d definitely buy it again.

Accurate, Fast, and Very Handy Tool
This infrared thermometer works quickly and gives consistent readings. It’s very easy to use with the laser targeting, and it has been accurate for checking temperatures for cooking and household use. The build feels solid and it’s very convenient to have around the kitchen. Excellent value and very reliable.

(Relatively) Inexpensive tool for measuring temperatures when I cook. Eliminates guesswork.
This tool is invaluable in my kitchen. I owned one previously, which failed after some years of service. I assumed its batteries had died and sought replacements. When I attempted to buy batteries for the non-working unit, I found I could buy this new and improved (specs) version for slightly less than new batteries for the old one. And of course it would come with brand new batteries. This unit has a wider range of temperatures, and therefore even more utility than its predecessor. No brainer there. It came quickly and I am so pleased to have the function back again. Note that IR doesn't penetrate the surface, so I have a (cheap) tool for checking the inside temp when I cook meats or something that one needs to know the internal temperature of. I would do business with Etekcity again whenever I need one of their products.

One year later...
... And I love this thing! Last summer I bought this because I was making epoxy kitchen countertops (not as easy as YT might have you think 😬 but... Now I love them). If it could go wrong, it did. Without fail. After the epoxy overheated on the first pour, then sanding it down, I ordered this so I could keep precise track of the state of the chemical reaction. It worked brilliantly. I knew exactly what was happening to each cup of colored epoxy by just aiming and pulling the trigger. Brilliant! But then when the counters were finished and installed, I tucked it into the drawer beside the oven thinking maybe I would find another use. I am a baker, so I am constantly checking temps for bread or cakes, etc. Turns out (as I had suspected previously but could not test), my oven's thermostat is wonky. Sometimes it doesn't heat to the correct temp but the oven's digital screen lies to me. Aggravating, yes, but even more so when you don't know its happening and your sourdough doesn't spring. This infrared thermometer is also handy for a quick confirmation that your liquid is an optimal temp for yeast to rise, or that your some other ingredient has reached perfect temp to be added to a batter, and so on. Baking is a kind of chemistry, and precision temps are critical, so it turns out i now find this little device to be indispensable in my kitchen. Finally, i have also used it for other things around the farm too. Quick check that the chick brooder isn't too hot/cold? Piece of cake. Check how hot some machinery has become for safety? Easy, fast and you don't have to risk a burn because you can stand a safe distance away. Suspect someone has a fever, what a simple way to get quick read (though I still prefer internal thermometers for many things). But this device is so simple to just tap the button and read the temp that its incredibly fast. Absolutely indispensable to our household now! In summary, how did I ever get by without this thermometer? Seriously, I use it constantly! Bought it for a weekend project and now use it almost daily. For the price, this little gadget is totally worth it.

Useful tool (and toy for bored adults)
I originally purchased this unit for use at work to check temperatures of food refrigeration units at my job. One might think that a bit extreme working for a national donut and coffee chain, but I believe in working smarter, not harder. This thermometer has really excelled at whatever I've thrown at it. I've dropped it on ceramic tile floors and kept it in my car in sub-freezing and sweltering temperatures, and never once had a problem with it. Once, a plastic trim piece popped off after dropping it, but it snapped back on perfectly and snugly. I have a probed thermocouple thermometer to be used at work; this often involves having a big curly cord sticking out of the door, allowing warmer air to enter the refrigerators and freezers while I wait for the probe to get an accurate reading. Sometimes, this would take 3-5 minutes, and I would have to keep turning the thermocouple back on several times to see if it was ready yet, all the time holding the door closed in between customers to get an accurate reading. 10 different temp readings could take 30 minutes, or more if interrupted. Using this device, and properly aiming the laser, I got readings that were almost always exactly what the thermocouple reported (either dead-on or within +/- 0.2 degrees), and those same 10 temperature readings would take 2 minutes tops (it took longer to write the numbers down and initial them than it took to actually take the temperatures!) Since then, I have also used it to check temperature of parts under the hood of my cars before I start any work, and also on ovens at work that I am about to clean to make sure I wouldn't burn myself in the process. (Saved myself a burn in a 343-degree bagel toaster last night, as a matter of fact, although the coil of the bagel toaster is higher than the range of this thermometer.) As other users have noted, curiosity might get the better of you, and you might run around taking temperatures of everything that's around you. I know I certainly did; holding the trigger as you sweep the laser sight around will amaze you as you see how surface temperature changes on different materials, how your AC/heating system is faring, even how much your home hot water pipes lose as they travel from your water heater/furnace. Do take note that, due to the way infrared beams bounce, certain reflective surfaces will give you faulty readings (the surface of fluids, for instance). This is by no means the most flawless method of checking temperature, it all depends on what you are actually taking the temperature of, but with a little common sense and experimentation, you'll know how to operate this unit and get good results. The laser sight is fairly accurate, but as explained in the included documentation, how close you are to what you're measuring makes a big difference. The display backlighting is decent, the option to turn the laser sight on or off is a nice feature, and the ability to swap between Fahrenheit and Celsius is also handy if you need it. Digits are clear and easy to read, although the tenths position is a little small for my liking. That's just nitpicking an otherwise great device. By and large, it's a handy little unit that will serve a variety of purposes, and before you know it, you'll be checking the temperature of your computer CPU, the walls, the floors, the neighbor's cat, just about everything. It's actually a little fun to play with.

This is a lot more fun than it should be
I have had a blast with this thing right out of the box! First and foremost, it is not a medical device, don't take your or somebody else's temperature with it. That's a completely different type of thermometer. This is a highly functioning tool and you should use it as such. Having said that and after taking the temperature of my TV, streaming stick, etc., I do a lot of crafting and have a couple of different heat presses. One of them I'm sure is malfunctioning and has a lot of cold spots. Only way I could prove it was to video taking its temperature set at 400°F. I had a friend calibrate this so she's true. Sure enough, the temperature varied from 359-419°F set at 385°F. I've contacted the company to get warranty support for a replacement. I also use a convection oven to do some other crafting and again getting the right temperature is important. I have an oven thermometer in it but it was saying it was a lot hotter. This guy said it was right on the money. It came with batteries, easy grip, nice looking lightweight and now my new best friend checking my oven temperature to make sure it's not too hot or too cold when I'm baking something. The read speed is almost instantaneous it's so quick. It doesn't store temperatures but do you really need it too? Probably the best money I've spent on Amazon in a long time!

Fantastic Thermoter Tool for the Home Cook
Fantastic thermometer that looks and performs great. I have used it many times for cooking purposes. To read water temperature and oven surface temperatures for bread making. I highly recommend this as it is fast and accurate. However to get accurate cooking temperature for meats you will still need a meat (or stab) thermometer!

Works like a charm
Works like a charm. Sturdy and tough. I use it for a commercial scale equipment temperature measurements where temperatures reach 200 Celsius. Takes between 3-5 to get stable. However the equipment and hot surface distance to be not more than 5 feet. Works for me

producto recomentado
