Mae Pranom Thai Chili Paste 8oz. (M) Thai Food Cooking Product of Thailand

This is Thai chili paste. For those who aren't familiar with this, the main flavor comes from fermented shrimp; it has a sea-foody funk and depth of flavor more comparable to fish sauce than "hot" sauce. It adds a complexity to certain Thai dishes that really takes them to the next level. I love it. Your mileage may vary. If you cook Thai, you should probably try it.

I do a lot of cooking and this is my go to for any type of stirfry or soup broth. You can use it for just about everything

I've ordered about 5 times now and they've arrived well packaged and in perfect shape! Great flavor!I think many people who only know American-style Thai restaurant food who think all Thai food is super spicy are ordering this thinking it's more of the spicy bird's eye chili type of sauce. A lot of traditional Thai food actually uses spur chilies, which are much milder than the bird's eye. Not all chili sauces/jams are spicy. This one, and others like it, aren't meant to be a super spicy dipping sauce, so make sure you know what you're buying before ordering. This is made with roasted mild chilies (likely spur) and shrimp. I am a Thai-American and this is the kind of flavors I grew up with.It is a delicious authentic product and I love using it for soups, stir fry, plain rice, and even on sandwiches.

I bought this product because I am exploring Thai cooking. It is amazing..tasty, not overly hot and a wonderful addition to many dishes that are not Thai but adding a wonderful depth of flavor
