!!!!SUCKS! DON’T BUY!!!!!
I’ve had this for less than 2 months.Super easy to put together BUT you’re legit just flying it together. I was so desperate to keep it together that my fiancé nailed it together after it fell apart NOT 1 TIME BUT 2! It still ended up falling apart even being nailed. This shelf is legit thick cardboard. Would ask for my money back but it’s too late

Cardboard is NOT sturdy at all
Although this shelf was very easy to put together it literally lasted about three hours before failing. Literally it was cardboard taped together with tiny little dowels to hold everything in place. For over $40 this was certainly expensive cardboard. NOT for books or anything heavy.

Looks good from far, but far from good
Looks good from far, but far from good. This is a waste of money unless you were in need of furniture like in my case and just bought w/o reading what its actually made of. The limit of low quality furniture superseded my expectations. Extremely lowww quality. The good thing about this item was the time it took me to “glue” this together. Just good enough to exist as is, w/o touching and just to carefully walk by it, it will hold and look pretty. For now it will due, but we’ll see how it holds with a kid in the house.

ABSOLUTELY NO AROMA OF OFF-GASSING CHEMICALS
Before I made this purchase I read many reviews knocking the quality of this product. I tried it anyway because I'm familiar with paper-based boards used for furniture construction (used to do it myself in art school), and I wasn't going to compare the finished product to wood. This is a moderate weight material. It's sturdy enough to be used for storage or for display. It's not to be moved around, knocked around, or handled roughly. I probably wouldn't use it in a kid's room for toy storage, for example, and expect it to last a decade. It was fun to assemble, and the alignment was as accurate as a comparable piece made from wood press-board. For me, the most important feature was the absence of noxious off-gas aromas. If I buy a do-it-yourself construciton in wooden pressboard, I have to unpack it and let it air-out outside for 3-4 weeks before I can get near enough to it to put it together (becuase of the formaldehyde aroma--it's just too much for me). After unpacking the Way Basics product, I did not have to wait one minute before I brought it into the house and put it together. After assembly, it went directly into the space where I needed it for storage (one of the most commonly used rooms in the house), and I felt completely confident that it was completely safe to be breathing the air there.

I should have read the reviews instead of accepting the star rating
This cubical stand is basically a contact papered box. First, I have to blame myself - some. I should have read the reviews better! The stars blocked my view!!! When the box arrived it was so small and lightweight that I didn't even consider it was the cubical stand that I had ordered. my grandson had it together in minutes, but I doubt it is anywhere near strong enough for a person to stand on! I'm not going to mess with returning it, but if I knew then what I know now I would not have ordered this stand.

Not what I expected
I was going to make something about the same size as this out of birch veneer plywood, but I wasn't too excited about having to paint or varnish it. So I found this and decided to give one a try. It comes in a small, lightweight box. My overall impression is that the unit is made out of a material that might dent easily, and the whole thing is covered with a glossy white paper. One corner of the paper was starting to peel, and I glued it back down. I had no trouble putting the pieces together, but you have to be very alert and careful since you're adhering everything with double-stick tape. I would suggest having a cup of coffee before you start, because the four-step instructions are not as complete as they should be. The middle shelf has holes drilled all the way through it, but this information is in small type on another part of the page. You also have to make sure the pieces are turned so that the adhesive strips are facing the back for the backer board. You're instructed to let the unit "rest" for 24 hours before you use it (kind of a letdown), and you're only supposed to pick it up by the bottom. Ultimately, I get the whole eco construction thing. The designers seem to accept the fact that disposable furniture is here to stay, and this unit does seem like it would break down more easily in the environment. And I know that generally you pay more to help the environment, but I think the price for these shelves is too high for something that doesn't seem very durable. One thing's for sure, they've come up with a product that really can't be dismantled should you decide to put it back in the box and return it.

Poor quality.
This is not sturdy at all. It’s held together by double sided tape. The pieces do not fit together the way it says. When you move it or place anything in it you can hear the double side tape moving. Do not purchase not worth the money!

Cheap but does the job
I ordered this bc I needed a space filler for a specific dimension. Comes with 3m tape on it but I needed to use wood glue to secure it. The tape wasn’t strong enough to keep it together. Doesn’t require nails or screws and it’s held together with small wooden pegs. It truly doesn’t stay together with what it comes with. It’s great for what it is tho. Just save yourself from a little bit of headache and use woods glue when you assemble it bc it’s annoying to have to go back later and repair it.
