Honestly, I had no intentions of watching this movie because I didn't watch the TV show and couldn't comprehend the need to make it into a major film. Turns out, I was wrong.My wife watched it first and begged me to give it a chance because she found it so hilarious.I was skeptical but we watched it one night and I have to admit that my preconceived notions weren't valid.The best thing about this movie is that it doesn't take itself seriously and leans into the campy nature of the TV show.If you're not a fan of crud humor, it might not be your thing but otherwise it does a good job of playing off all the known stereotypes associated with the show.When my wife needs a pick-me-up after a bad day, this is her go-to movie to cheer her up. While I might not watch it as much as she does, I did appreciate the meta-humor and chemistry between the cast.A great movie to watch on a Saturday night at home or, in the case of my wife, when you need a good and consistent laugh.

I've probably only seen a few of TV episodes back when that was on. The film does a great job of not taking itself too seriously. It's a fun mix of comedy and action that really reminds me of the first (and maaaybe 2nd) Beverly Hills Cop movies, as far as how well it switches between the two genres. One minute it's goofy; the next, it's serious action/drama. In words, this dichotomy sounds like it would be too much of a contrast to work. Nonetheless, the flow from scene to scene is smooth, with the movie never forgetting to not take itself too seriously while dishing out fun action scenes.Based on the previews (and my prior "meh" attitude towards the series), I wasn't expecting much. So, I was very surprised when I caught myself laughing out loud within the first five minutes. I know it was within the first five minutes because, as surprised as I was, I stopped the movie to check the run time.The cast all did a pretty good job and were well cast for their roles. Priyanka Chopra plays a good "badguy". The Rock (I'm sorry, but why have removed that moniker from his name?), clearly has a fun time with The Hoff's namesake protagonist character. He also is really adept at the action/comedy style that Eddie Murphy was so great at. This is why it brought back a good-ole-days feeling of watching Beverly Hills Cop.And, just as with Taggart and Foley, The Rock and Zack Effron have good chemistry in the role of enemies who must come to terms with each other to fight the badguy. The ladies hold true to the original series (somewhat derisive) name: Babewatch. However, besides being nice screen candy, they also bring life and depth to their characters. Kelly Rohrbach (the blonde), in particular, does a great job of looking like the ditzy slow-mo camera'd blonde and then contrasting that with both good portrayal of emotion as well as strength.Then there's poor Ronnie Greenbaum, who plays the "not quite of the beach mold" character. But, again, he does a great job of both enjoying the fun of being the misfit when the movie is in comedy mode, as well as switching to can-do teammate when the movie is in action mode.Remember, the movie has fun with itself and all of the cast do a great job of moving back and forth between action and comedy. No, it's not a serious crime drama. No, it's not the funniest movie you've ever seen. Yes, it does make an hour and a half pass quickly and enjoyably with some good laughs and fun action scenes.If you're like me and weren't a fan of the series, don't skip this (as I almost did) based just on the title. If you were a fan of the series, The Rock does a good job of bringing a crime-fighting, bay-saving Mitch Buchannon to the movie format. But, from the previews, you should know this movie isn't the serious drama style that the series was.Oh ya, and the actual "Hoff" does make a brief cameo (in a truly Luke and Obi-wan moment, no less). So, if you're one of his die hard fans, you'll want to watch it for that scene.

Got used and loved my mom loves even more so funny 😂

This is not a complex movie, nor is it a family movie. However, it IS a funny movie with a cast that can really act, and also pull off swimwear. The story is good enough to keep you interested in what happens next, and the jokes are funny enough to not make you care. The jokes are mostly grown up / raunchy in nature, so if you don't like that kind of humor, this one isn't for you. That also means you shouldn't watch with kids. I have a mature 13-year old and I'm gonna wait another year to watch this one with him.

very funny movie! i love it so much! i wouldn’t recommend for young audiences. but adults, most definitely!

Typical for what it is but way better than the TV series. Some really good guffaws for me. If I’m in a bad mood I can watch this and laugh.

This is actually pretty good. The Rock continues his usual Mr. America type character as Mitch, a lifeguard who goes above and beyond. He has no kid unlike the 90s TV show, but is dedicated to the Bay, saving lives and making friends on the daily.New life guards come in including bad boy Brody played by Zac "8 Pack" Efron. They discover a vivacious Latina is smuggling drugs through the bay, and take the law into their own hands due to police disinterest/incompetence.The film almost is like Baywatch Nights, the first season, with its dark crime story. But there are plenty of laughs, dicks, giggling chests, raunchy language and jokes.Audiences would like more characters/actors from the TV show. All we get is David Hasselhoff in a brief cameo (and a 2nd in the credits) and a super slow mo and hot Pamela Anderson at the end. She doesn't even speak, but if there's a sequel it's set up to include her in the story.The tone isn't very 90s TV Baywatch. It's typical Zac Efron R rated comedy 2010s. But that's OK. It's got heart and funny moments. It's not bad like Chips, Miami Vice, or any other of the stupid Hollywood remakes.Special features include 11 minutes of trailers, 3 featurettes with cast and crew on the characters/actors, remaking the classic world famous TV show, and the stunts and physical acumen of Dwayne Johnson & Zac Efron in particular. Also, 10 minutes of deleted scenes. The blu ray has an extended cut with 5 minutes of additional and changed scenes. In some cases the theatrical version has more to a scene. The additional 5 minutes doesn't have anything that would qualify as unrated. Just slightly changed.

this is a really funny movie at times overall i give it 4 stars

O filme é muito divertido. Tem comédia e drama e apesar de não constar nos detalhes, tem dublagem em Português Brasil. Entrega Amazon mais uma vez fantástica.

Yo veía muy poquito Baywatch estaba muy chamaquito y siempre le cambiaba a otras cosas prefería ver caricaturas a los guardianes recuerdo que pasaban mucho la serie en el canal 9 de Tabasco pero no era de mis preferidas.Baywatch  no era una súper producción pero al menos entretenía con sus medio escenas de acción y sus bellezas corriendo a cámara lenta, fue una producción que cumplía con su cometido entretener sin meterse en muchos problemas y esta película es eso un entretenimiento dominguero.La película mezcla acción con comedia unos guardianes un poco salameros metiéndose en donde no les importa y cometiendo muchas tonterías, Daywne y Zac forman un gran equipo son grandes actores y las situaciones en las que se meten están muy divertidas, tal vez como peli de acción se queda muy corta pero si tiene varios elementos clásicos de las series y no esta mal para pasar una tarde/noche de domingo.La película contiene una gran calidad de imagen realmente el HDR deslumbra y los rayos de sol se salen de la pantalla son grandes rojos y naranjas y el mar tiene un gran color azul una de las mejores películas en HDR que he visto hasta ahora en lo que respecta a playa y exteriores, del audio esta muy bueno su sonido en dolby atmos ya que el sonido del mar y de las gaviotas andan sonando por todos los canales de verdad te mandan para la playa y las escenas de acción contiene unos grandes efectos… hay un problema por ahí con los balazos que son muy notorios que no supieron hacerlos por que suenan horribles pero en fin no todo puede ser perfecto.El slipcover me gusto tiene un gran tono de tornasol de verdad le da un tono Premium a la versión 4K sin embargo el arte de los discos super simple ojala le inviertan algo en hacer discos mas bonitos, se incluye una versión extendida que solo tiene 5 min mas de metraje nada del otro mundo quien sabe cual era la escena nueva ya que la verdad ni cuenta me di pero ahí esta un versión extendida y te la quieren vender como lo máximo, contiene varios extras divertidos si siempre queda ganas de mas de los guardianes.Si tienen buen performance para reproducir 4K como se debe vale la pena conseguir títulos como este que explotan al 100% el equipo que tengamos
