Anabaptist Essentials: Ten Signs of a Unique Christian Faith

Great introduction and summary to Anabaptist theology.

Loved the book, font size was way to small and difficult to read even with my glasses on.

Anabaptist Essentials is the only book needed for a concise presentation of Christian history, theology and faith. Becker’s snapshot includes essential information for anyone and most reading levels interested in learning about Christianity.

Menno Simons and all Anabaptists (until recently) would be contra this book. With liberal positions, quotes from female 'Pastors', advocating for feminist lenses, referring to 'the oppressed Palestinians', etc. this book has problematic foundations and unchristian views. Although we should not commit the Genetic Fallacy, such anti-Christian support has no place and is worthy of 1 star. Yet in spite of that, much value exists in the pages. If this could be rewritten, removing the liberalism that has ruined the Mennonite Church and approach from the traditional Anabaptist view of inerrancy, true revival could occur. Until that time, expect to see much hand-wringing wondering over reduced attendance and diminishing interest while ignoring the elephant in the room as to the cause.

We have been studying this book in a class of adults who are traditional Anabaptists. This book lays out clearly the distinctive characteristics of how Anabaptists understand who Jesus was and is and how followers of Jesus are to live out his life in everyday living. Anabaptists believe that our understanding of scripture is closer to what Jesus originally intended than many other faiths. What one believes gets lived out in daily activities and actions. Sadly, we are human beings and we don't always follow how Jesus wants us to live, but we have God's grace and forgiveness when we err. I hope this book helps people who are earnestly seeking to know who Jesus is and how he intends for us to live.

I was raised as a Christian, but never understood clearly what that meant attending several Baptist churches. My neighbors invited me to visit their Mennonite Church and I suddenly felt like I was meant to be there. Wanting to learn more of what it was that made me like this church so much, I ordered ANABAPTIST ESSENTIALS to prepare for its use in Sunday school. Through this book, I realized that I had been surrounded by the Holy Spirit and found that the "Ten Signs of a Unique Christian Faith" was exactly what I longed for in my following of the Lord.

Great book that simplifies the beliefs of Anabaptists.

Well written book explaining the basics of anabaptist beliefs. Great intro and well written.

Great book for people who want to explore genuine faith; certainly not the health and wealth kind of faith.
