Rawleigh Coconut Pie Filling & Dessert Mix: 16 oz / 454g - Pack of 1

Well, I wrongly assumed that one container would make one coconut custard pie. Wrong! So what did I do? I ordered three, believing that it would be adequate for three pies. Nope, I found an entire container almost fills a normal 9-10” pie shell. Just as an aside, it took me forever to locate frozen pie shells without every chemical known to man, but I actually located two brands.Not to digress any more, I was shocked to find that each container contains a powder. You have to mix it up the same way as you would making any other pudding. I wasn’t too impressed until I added all the ingredients and mixed it and lo and behold it really smelled like a coconut pie. Not sure if it is coconut cream or coconut custard, but whatever you call it the smell was great.After following instructions on the container, I placed this mixed batter in pie shells and tossed it in the oven. Well not really tossed, so let’s say carefully placed it on an oven rack.If you do purchase these containers, be aware that if you follow the directions for filling one pie, it will not quite be enough to reach the top of the crust. Follow directions for mixing two pies and you’ll be right on with the amount needed for filling a pie shell. You can of course not utilize it as a pie filling and enjoy it as a pudding eaten with a spoon, but either way you really can’t go wrong.One surprising note for diabetics out there. There is almost no sugar in it at all. I used Truvia to sweeten the mix. To me it would be somewhat bland without sugar or Truvia, but either way it is delicious!Wait, hold on. I can’t believe I’m giving anything from Amazon a five star rating. I’ve had hampers fall apart, LED bulbs that popped when they are turned on for the first time, and a mixer that doesn’t mix..Take my word for it that a five star rating from me is very rare, so this pudding mixture must really be good.

This is a very good pie filling, my family loves it.

I was really excited to find this product due to the Jello cooked pudding being discontinued. I was really wanting a coconut cream pie. I grew up with my mom making the pie with the Jello cooked pudding mix. This product did not disappoint with the texture and how it set up. The coconut pudding didn’t have a strong coconut flavor. It was more of a vanilla pudding with bits of coconut. It was yummy but I wanted a stronger coconut flavor. Next time I will add 2 tsp of coconut extract to the pudding after it thickens.

this coconut mixture is great for making a home made coconut cream pie. You can no longer buy the "cook" version of coconut cream puddings in our local stores, so I was glad to find this product here on Amazon.

I found this was almost the same as the Watkins Dessert Mix that is no longer available.
