I don't think I would use these in a marine aquarium, but we very seldom have live plants in those anyway. They do not alter the ph of freshwater tanks, but be aware that your animals will eventually defeat these and your plants will float anyway. My best success has been potted plants without weights but these work well for bare root and stems **Q: Why do they recommend that you wash your hands after handling these?** A: These are made of pure lead. Lead poisoning is a thing.
