These magnets are of rare earth materials wich are much stronger than normal cerm8c magnets. I don't know how much weight they can hold, haven't tested that. I use them for holding files on my metal white board and they handle the weight of several with out sliding downward. Stack a couple on top of each other and attempt to pull them apart and not by sliding them. It's difficult
