Leather Boat Shoe Lacing Kit – 45 Inch Leather Shoelaces for Boat Shoes, 1 Needle & 2 Strips [1 Pair]

The threading needle worked well for replacing the laces in my boat shoes. The laces seem to be of good quality - they are a little thicker than the ones I replaced and they stay tied.

The leather boat shoe laces worked out very well for my minnotania women's mocassins. Very easy to work with & looks great with my mocassins. I actually prefer the look & how well the laces are staying tied. I highly recommend this product

I'd give this product a 5 star review except for one issue, which I'll mention in a bit. But first, I want to address another review that said that this item would not work on Sperry Top Siders. I presume they thought that the needle was too large to fit through the eyelets of the deck shoes, but it will indeed fit. I just used it to rethread my Sperrys. The eyelet hole on a Sperry Top Sider is .125 inches and this needle is .113. It's snug, but it will pass through the eyelets. Now for the one issue. It's VERY difficult to get the leather lacing to stay inserted in the end of the needle during the process of threading through the heel of a deck shoe. Took 15 tries before I was able to shape the end of the lace correctly in order to thread it deeply enough into the end of the needle that it didn't slip out during the process. I'd advise the seller to prep the ends of the lacing in a way that makes it easier to thread into the needle. I don't think ANYONE in the real world has a pair of scissors that can cut the end of the lacing as the video shows being done. My scissors just twisted and would not cut the lacing. I ended up using an Xacto knife to prepare the end of the lacing, which worked eventually, but it was frustrating. I nearly gave up. Bottom line is that it worked and I can now wear my deck shoes out in public without being embarrassed that the lacing was missing around the perimeter of the shoe.

These laces are perfect! They are a gorgeous shade of teal, and seem just as sturdy as what came on my Mocs to begin with! I have a pair of LL Bean Campside Mocs that I've been pretty much living in for the past 6 months. My dog got ahold of them and (luckily) only killed the laces. So to Amazon I went in search of new ones. I found these and decided I'd get the teal laces instead of the brown (which these shoes originally came with). Teal is a bit more my style so it would add a bit of personalized flair. Goy my package tonight, opened it and went to work. It took me a total of 10 minutes and I had them replaced, tied, and cut to size. I've owned Sperry's before that this would have come in handy to repair! (Those were fallen victim to the same dog...not brought back to life) If your looking for an easy replacement or even just a personalization, these seem great! The included lacing needle is amazing and so easy to work with!

I did not buy this product to replace the leather laces in my Sperry Boat Shoes. I bought it to make leather lanyards for my fixed blade knives used for bushcraft, hunting/skinning, and survival uses. A properly sized leather lanyard slipped over your gripping hand helps to control the knife if it slips out of the user's hand when being used, preventing injury to the user or other people around the user who may be performing other tasks and not paying attention to the nearby knife. I read the reviews of several leather strips that are typically used to make necklaces and bracelets, but their reviewers usually complained about those products being polyurethane "leather" and being very weak or tearing apart very easily, which are performance characteristics I definitely had to avoid. If they couldn't hold the weight of the materials used to make necklaces or bracelets, the weight of a bushcraft knife would snap them in a New York minute. Thankfully, these leather laces worked perfectly for my purpose. They are strong, very pliable, and are a color that coordinates very well with the color of my knives' leather sheaths. When slid through the knife's lanyard tube or hole, a simple hitch tied near the ends holds the lanyard securely in place. I can slip the lanyard under the knife's handle, between the handle and the knife's sheath, to help keep the lanyard from hanging out, flopping around, and becoming snagged as I walk through or past brush in the woods, yet its always available to help safely partially draw a new knife from a new, stiff leather sheath that hasn't yet softened and stretched out to fit the knife yet, until I can get a firm grip on the knife's handle. I will be buying more of this product soon because I used all of the leather laces material to put lanyards on my favorite, most frequently used knives, and have a few more knives on which I should attach a leather lanyard.

This is not a criticism of the laces and needle, they are great quality. Installing them into boat shoes is an adventure with a learning curve… that is due to the complexity of the shoes.

My lace finally broke. I thought "no problem, I am prepared!". Needle wouldn't fit through the eyelet . Tried my other boat shoes...not them either! Both pairs purchased in the US. Annoying and not cheap.
