I'm one of those people that actually enjoys wrapping presents, especially when I can get a little creative. As a result, I get asked to wrap presents for friends and family all the time. As you might imagine, things can get a little overwhelming around the holidays. Thankfully though, this handy little device from PELEG Design/Studio Scratch makes that job considerably easier. I honestly could not be happier to have stumbled across this just before Christmas!Essentially, this is a tape dispenser that can be clamped onto a huge variety of objects. While that may not sound particularly impressive at first, once you try it out you will never want to go back to those cheap plastic dispensers or the clunky desktop designs. The most important advantage that this design gives you is versatility. The internal spring provides enough pressure to clamp firmly onto any object that is up to 1.7" thick and the tips feature a plasticized red coating that not only improves grip, but also prevents damage from scratching. It holds so firmly, in fact, that I began to worry about it possibly marring the object onto which it is clamped. I decided to test it out on a very thin (2mm) piece of cardboard carrying a 2 pound load. It held perfectly with no slippage and no marks, warping, or damage of any kind.Weighing in at 4.9 oz. with a solid metal frame, this thing is built to last. The only plastic part is the 1" adapter in the center that holds the roll of tape. I would imagine that most people are going to use standard sized Scotch/cellophane tape rolls with it, but it can hold any tape up to 0.7" in width and 2" in diameter. The rolls can be easily changed by turning the central pin (axle) counter clockwise, pulling it out, and pushing the adapter/tape out towards the side with the cutter.Simply put, I absolutely LOVE this tape dispenser. The ability to put it just about anywhere and have it hold rock steady is incredibly handy and makes tasks like present wrapping so much easier. I'm also a fan of the industrial aesthetic, as it makes it feel more like a tool. It's just a brilliant piece of design work that brings new functionality to a device that most of us have rarely even bothered to think about. The end result is something that I never knew I wanted, but now feels like a must have. I'm not sure its possible to give a higher recommendation than that!

It's weird, but I like it. I have it stuck to a shelf, for those random times I need a little piece of tape. My usual tape dispenser is this heavy block that sits on my desk, but this one is much lighter, so it's easier to carry someplace some tape is needed. The cutter seems fine. Works well dispensing tape.

Does not fit normal scotch tape roll. Immediately returning.

This is really sturdy. Like REALLY sturdy. It’s definitely not some knock off clip they made into a tape dispenser. This sucker could hold a heavy sack.One of the ends is the serrated edge to cut the tape. Sounds dangerous but definitely way less dangerous than I expected.The tape roll is fastened in with one large steel bolt that is so easy to remove, but also stays put unless you do. You can replace the tape with regular rolls you buy at the store (not the oversized ones) as the center includes the reusable plastic circle that keeps the tape roll steady. Like a regular tape dispenser.This has saved our Christmas wrapping lives. No longer do I need two hands or a hand and a foot to get pieces of tape off when I’m wrestling wrapping paper. Simply clamp this to edge of table and it’s a one handed operation after that! I cant believe this isn’t how standard tape dispensers are made! So ingenious!This is really really heavy duty & well made!

I love this, it is so convenient. I just put it on the shelf above me off to the side and there is the tape ready to go. I think everyone with a desk needs this. It has the usual insert that you push into the center of refill rolls to mount it inside, then there is a big screw you put through the center and just screw in, very easy. I think my tape storage game just changed.
