Works well on wood
Works well on wood on pipes, it gets jammed up do to the teeth on the cable.

Slow & Steady wins the prize
Real handy for emergencies. Remember: slow steady pulls, no super fast, so the friction heat doesn't melt and ruin the blades.

cable is smooth, no teeth or sharps, friction burns thru.
bought to try on white water pvc. it doesn't "cut", it "burns" thru. cable is just wire cable, no teeth, no sharp things at all, smooth. pull fast enough it frictions and burns in. then when it gets hot, it kinks and stays kinked. it also gets stuck in the melted if you stop before cutting all the way thru. i'll keep just cuz there are times no clearance for any other way to cut. deff not practical for pvc install. tried on wood, quickly blackened the wood stopped when it smoked, so maybe its a good firestarter?

Recommended for deer hunters
Worked like a champ. Started using these saws a year or 2 ago. The ones I had before the rings on the end were cheap. I found these and were very happy with them. I used them for 2 deer this past week and they worked great. The handles fit through the pelvis just fine and were comfortable to use. Would buy again if I had to

MIGHT CUT BUTTER, MAYBE
Tried to cut a 1/2-inch PVC pipe and the wire/blade bounced off like it was trying to cut Titanium. I purchased it specifically for that purpose after seeing a plumbing video on cutting in tight places. Oh well, back to the hack saw blade. Also, it would have cost me almost as much to return it as I paid for the "saws" because no UPS Stores in my area. Drop off sites yes, but no "Stores". Hence the cost factor. Yard sale time in spring.

Cable Wire is too rough and aggressive. Gets stuck.
I bought a pack of these a few months back. I always keep one on hand for cutting PVC in trenches, or PVC next to other pipes, where there is no room for a cutter, or a saw. They really come in handy. When I got them I saw that they had a pretty aggressive roughness. Got around to trying them today. I was disappointed. They are too aggressive and get stuck easily. Normally I am over a trench, alternating pulling on each side. These won't do that as they just get stuck. I need the wrap around the pipe to be a 180 wrap because of trench clearance. These will do 90 degrees or less but that defeats the purpose. Heading out to a big box store to get some with smoother wire, that just work. I did not try them on wood or trees.

Bone saw
These will be perfect for using on deer/big game in the beginning of processing in the field. NAP used to make the zip saw and it seems that replace blades are hard to find and these are the exact same. Using to cleanly saw pelvic bones on animals when self processing. Update 11/14/25 - alright it works perfectly for sawing a deer pelvis in two. It may be a single or couple use thing but with the 4 pack I will have them for years to come!
