I am 5'8" and weigh 205, which usually translates into a size 14 jeans or 16 dress pant. I bought a size XL after looking at their sizing chart, and reading reviews. These swim leggings fit very snuggly, which is a good thing when swimming and diving. They are a nice thickness, and feel well made. Also, as a snorkeler, I was glad to not wear sunblock in the water since it is harmful to the reefs and their residents.Size wise, this fit exactly as expected. I'm 5'10" and a size 16. The XL were long enough and the tights didn't pinch at all. The tights are light weight and dry quickly. I didn't feel like I had heavy soggy pants on. They are form fitting so no drag in the water. The stripe gives a little sporty accent. I didn't feel frumpy swimming with the other bikinis; just smart and sporty. Got no sun or color under them--my goal. They are on the high waisted side, and long enough to reach the ankles for maximum coverage. I was really really pleased with them and would buy them again. In fact, I have 2 pair!5'6", 130 pounds, size 4-6, the Small was good, could have worn a x small if I wanted really tight.
