Quirky and fun
Comprising laugh out loud geek humour, fantastical science and a ripping good yarn this book was a wonderful surprise.Max, a typical teenage nerd living in his parents' basement decides to leave with his cat Ross after breaking up with his girlfriend and after a quantum accident left him living in a different version of Alberqueque each day. What follows is a space adventure remeniscent of Red Dwarf with its wonderfully quirky characters, only better. It's obvious that Wheeler is a Douglas Adams fan, I wonder if he is a fan of Grant Naylor too? Typically British nerd humour from an American is extraordinary in itself and the quality of the prose is exceptional. There are also some wonderfully profound statements. "When civilizations emerge, their architects have always been, and always will be, the smartest beings in a vast area of stupid."I very much look forward to reading more from this author.

If you like Hitchhikers Guide, you’ll like this!
I’m shocked I haven’t read this strangely humorous book before! Thank you Zachry Wheeler for this free ebook through Amazon.“Max and the Multiverse: A SciFi Comedy Novel, Book One” by Zachry Wheeler ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Genre: SciFi Comedy/Satire. Location: From New Mexico USA on Earth to a spaceship heading for Andromeda. Time: Spring Break.Max is a nerdy teen loner with social anxiety. It’s Spring Break, and he’s online gaming and junk food eating. But when Max falls asleep after a marathon session, his face smashes a certain combination of computer keys. Now he tumbles between bizarre parallel universes whenever he falls asleep. One day, pterodactyls in the sky, another day grammar changed to Yoda-speak. One day he wakes to an Earth where humans have colonized space. Meanwhile orange-skinned, blue-scaled space couriers Zoey and Perra head from Mulgawat in Ursa Major to Jupiter’s moon Europa to taste the universe’s best water. Naturally, Max and Ross (his cat who is now a cyborg with a British accent) get tangled up with Zoey and Perra and an intergalactic conflict.Author Wheeler has written a fast paced, action-filled romp of a book. It’s absurdly witty as Max muddles through new realities. Max reminds me of a younger, computer-savvy Arthur Dent (Hitchhiker’s Guide) with a cyborg cat instead of Ford Prefect. Background narrative isn’t quite at Hitchhiker level-but then, what is? So probably not a fair comparison. Wheeler’s book definitely belongs in the subgenre of quirky sci-fi, and that’s just fine with me! It’s 4 stars from me🌵📚💁🏼♀️

Entertaining but trys too hard
Enjoyable enough to keep my attention but trys too hard to be that snarky comedic pop culture reference sci-fi "romp".Some inconsistencies in what transfers to each new "verse" or doesn't (sometimes the people around him remember what happened in the previous day while other times there's no connection.Overall, like I said, enjoyable enough though.

Thanks, Zach, awesome work!
Be forewarned, this is a spoiler review!Max is a regular young adult online gamer, living a regular life, with a regular job, when one day, after a marathon gaming session, he passes out, hitting his head, hard on his keyboard, knocking himself out, hitting the perfect combination of keystrokes that activates an impossible mechanism in a separate universe from his that results in him... .... waking up the day after in a world that cats can talk. And not only that, but Ross, his cat, talks with a British accent and has an attitude to match it.From there, Max finds out that when he falls asleep every night, he's waking up in a different universe. In one, stars are black and the night sky is white. In another, dinosaurs are no longer extinct as he finds himself not knowing that the roads are empty because of a highly publicized pterodactyl alert, when he's attacked by one - Old Stumpy I think was it's name - as Max is driving and finds himself insulted by friends because of how easy Old Stumpy is to avoid. And in another. He finds himself waking up in a world where religion never existed, super sophisticated AIs run the planet, as he boards a shuttle for Europa and promptly finds himself and his cat, Ross, who starts off not talking but because of off planet requirements he's put into the body of a cybernetic cat who can now, once again, speak English - as the two meet up with two gorgeous women on a the adventure of a life time.On occasion, he 'slips' into other universes, but he always winds up with the girls - who turn out to be cosmic couriers of sorts, delivering high value cargo across the galaxy, which is what max finds himself embroiled in - an extremely high value cargo of a device that can take a vessel - a starship - and literally shift it across universes in much the same way Max is experiencing when he sleeps - resulting in the best and worst of the worst hot on their heels to acquire the technology. The book, it's fantastic - a light, thoughtful and imaginative story told with the levity and playfulness of one of my favorite authors of all time... Douglas Adams.... and I look VERY forward to reading the next installment in this trilogy. Thanks, Zach, awesome work!

You deserve a break
This is a fun piece of candy. That is not a bad thing. It is easy reading, image-rich, and plot-focused. If I was writing it, I might have trimmed it a bit, but he successfully wrote this and I didn't. I love the premise and he takes great advantage of it and a flimsy fourth wall.I will be digging into book 2 soon.

Bit of fun
Not a serious book so don't expect an expert si fi read. Purely a fun read. Some rather silly bits but that's fine. Please don't expect expert scientific descriptions because this isn't one of those books. I liked the main character even, especially his reaction to his talking cat. Give it a go if you fancy an easy light read.

A great read - dive right in to get out of this world!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Received it as a freebie via a book site I subscribe to and have just purchased the second in the series. Max is a adorable geek that just happens on a multitude of universe options. I love his cat Ross and their adventures into the galaxies.

whacky
A good read. It reminds me of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. I enjoyed the characters. I now see my cat in a different light.

A delightful rollercoaster ride through an imaginative and humorous cosmos.
Max and the Multiverse is a delightful rollercoaster ride through an imaginative and humorous cosmos. The novel combines the best elements of science fiction and comedy, creating a unique and entertaining reading experience. The protagonist, Max, is a lovable character whose adventures across multiple universes are both thrilling and laugh-out-loud funny. The author's witty writing style and clever dialogue keep the pace brisk, making it a page-turner for fans of the genre. The world-building in Max and the Multiverse is nothing short of impressive, with each universe Max encounters being distinct and captivating. The author's creativity shines through, offering readers a fresh perspective on the possibilities of parallel dimensions. While the humor might not appeal to every reader's taste, those who appreciate a blend of clever wordplay and situational comedy will find themselves thoroughly entertained. Overall, Max and the Multiverse is a highly enjoyable read that balances its comedic elements with a well-crafted sci-fi narrative. My only reservation in awarding a full five stars stems from the occasional pacing issues, where the narrative seems to rush through certain scenes. Nevertheless, this is a minor concern in an otherwise engaging and imaginative novel that stands out in the crowded science fiction comedy genre. If you're a fan of witty humor and imaginative storytelling, Max and the Multiverse is a must-read.
