Intriguing theory, but hard to follow...
I read this book mostly for information on Helen Richey. However, it's unclear where fact ends and fiction begins, which made it useless as research material and incredibly dry as a work of fiction. The book basically examines the time between Earhart's death and Richey's death through Helen's experiences. However there are several points where the story bounces far into the past or jumps to a person totally unrelated to the established story. The book focuses more on the theory that Earhart was on a secret mission for the U.S. Government than on Helen Richey. The last three or four chapters are filler and have nothing to do with Helen Richey. There's a lot of potential in this book. Unfortunately, it's clunky and awkward. Many times the author writes about Helen's thoughts and feelings without any citation and the book switches from perspective to perspective, including that of the author.
