Can I give a LOWER score please? I was very excited when I bought this but that was short lived. I started using it and things were fine. Then at an EXTREMELY important shoot I was tilting my tripod back to get the top of a wall in focus I notice it cut off. This kept happening over and over every time I tilted the camera up. I thought it was my camera...instinct told me to take the base off and try again; camera worked again. There is literally a short in the connector of the base. I got lucky and returned the base at only hours to spare. Seems like this is a relabeled after market POS that many people sell as their own. After I read the reviews of many of this same product from “other” suppliers...this happens with all of them. So you may get lucky and you may not. Thank the world for Amazon’s return policy.

Grip is well-constructed and is similar to the version made by Panasonic, including it's design flaws. Having an extra battery is awesome. The standard battery lasts between 2-3 hours of continuous 4k30 shooting. With two, you'll double the time. Most people use the GH4 for video, so the grip for operating the camera into portrait mode is a nice feature, but one that you'll likely hardly use.So, the design flaws (the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars):* The grip covers the existing battery slot. So you have to remove the grip to remove the battery to charge it. Luckily, you can tell the camera to use the battery in the grip first.* The tripod screw is moved off center, i.e. the grip's tripod screw is not in the same position as the camera's. This off-center placement makes certain things not work as well; like using a 3-axis gimbal.The above are not deal killers though, as the grip itself is still great and much cheaper than the Panasonic version.

DO NOT PURCHASE.You get what you pay for. This is a cheaply made grip. The battery is easily dislodged while handling the camera, causing power to cut in and out while the battery jostles around inside the grip.This caused me to miss footage at a wedding, and resulted in a few corrupted files too.

Other people stated that when they tilted the camera it would shut down, Same here. Also, mine when shooting still would says the camera needed to be rebooted. I looked this up online and it is common issue with aftermarket battery bases. Hope this helps someone, I am returning mine.

update firmware if having battery issues with third party batteries.
