All You Need Is...
...more people like John Lennon! When I became aware this film was available on DVD here on Amazon, I went whoopie...now I have a place where I can express my emotions for John. He was far more than my favorite Beatle. I looked at him as a kindred brother. Even though I never met the man in person, I felt I met him through his music. It's as if his words became my own. Perhaps not everything, but nearly everything I ever said or did was directly because of his influence. When Chapman shot him down all those years ago now, part of me died too...and I can honestly say I have not been the same since. But Chapman did nothing but immortalize John. I'm sure John himself would allow Chapman to go free today knowing John's love for people. But this documentary doesn't only shed light on John, but John's life with the Beatles. And what better man to shed light on the Beatles but the group's founder? I do feel this is the best documentary ever done about the Beatles. It's loaded with rare insights. I love when John says "When I was with the Beatles, I thought we were the best group in the whole world. Believing that we were is what made us what we were..." I also love the bed-in scenes and John's defense when he returned his MBE. He truly lived up to his words when he wrote "Imagine no possessions..." Who else but John would do something like giving up medals as a testament for peace??? I especially love the later scenes with John & his family. He could finally be John the man and not John the ex-Beatle, even though that tag has regretfully stuck with all of them. My favorite scene is the slow motion shot of John's glasses flying off his head and shattering on the ground. That really symbolized the end of it all...the dream really was over...no more Beatles, no more John. If you really want to experience it all in a unique way, see this film. It's the next best thing to having John there with you....in the end, all you really need is Imagine.

VERY GOOD movie!
This movie was an excellent documentary of John Lennon. I loved the music and John narrating. I wish it had more footage and less of people talking that i don't know. May Pang should have talked more though. I seriously loved all the footage of john rehearsing, acting goofy, (I laughed so hard when he made this face when he spun in a chair! He has the best facial expressions!!)being sincere and the kind man he is (like taking in this very weird homeless man). i honestly loved this documentary. I laughed (when John made jokes and stuff! he's so funny!), got angry (when people started getting upset abou John's jesus comment! and when this lady gets mad at john for returning his MBE and this comic guy at the bed'in's makibg fun of john and Yoko nude.) and cried (when they talked about John dying and stuff. I seriously cried, (like Yoko). it was so sad i don't think i could watch about his death a lot. but it was good to see the people who cared after he died!! The "Sex" scene. One person talked about this scene though all it is, is John and Yoko taking their clothes off (you can't see ANYTHING! they cover up so jeez people!) and kissing each other. i kinda think its romantic. i mean its not hard-core so whats the deal?? their just kissing!! Also, they could have added a lot worse because that footage of them was for "Every man has a woman who loves him" video and they showed them entirly naked, and probably more then kissing!! improvements on video: More John talking, more footage, more John in later life as opposed to lots on the beatles (no offense but there are millions of stuff on the beatles (i love the beatles, don't get me wrong!!) and i just kinda wanted more "just johnny"...Also there is over 800 HOURS of John Lennon on footage (alone WITHOUT THE BEATLES- like what you saw in the documentary, just him and stuff) i mean this more was like 2 hours (thats WITH people talking, etc) i mean what about the other 798 hours??!! i seriously think (even though obviously i'm sure Yoko, wouldn't approve since she did do the John Lennon Anthology by the way!!) they should publish John lennon's diaries (instead of people writing "based on it") and more footage of John. He is just so wonderful! I want to see more of him!

The Many Shades of john Lennon
From John Lennon's output with the Beatles it would be easy to label him a cynic. In viewing Andrew Solt's brilliant documentary one can empathize with his bitterness. For somebody who suffered the slings and arrows that befell him while in the Fab Four you can understand the negativity. Life wasn't all screaming young girls and jelly babies. Whatever adulation followed the moptops also came withering criticisms. The lifestyle could be straightjacketing. As "Imagine" demonstrates it was almost logical that Lennon would embrace the peace movement and radical politics. It gave him a voice that had previously been denied him. His relationship with Yoko Ono is presented here in a whole new positive light. In my opinion Lennon never got to achieve his artistic potential when he was felled by the assassin's bullet. "Double Fantasy" did demonstrate that he did have a sense of closure in his life. Ultimately this is a life affirming film about a reluctant sage.

The original and the best
DVD seems to be the only way we can get the original film (not the terrible Yoko version, released on Blu ray)The interviews look very 80s but it's still a great film showing some key moments of Lennon's life, that we are lucky were caught on film.A must see for fans.

FABULOUS! A MUST BUY!!!
FAB FAB FAB This took me back to my happy childhood and made me cry; but in a pleasant way! The 60s what a great era? The best, i wish i was older in 60s to enjoy the heady times & free love, peace man. If this is your time as a child or young person you MUST buy this dvd its magical. John lennon god bless his beautiful soul, the world was robbed of a brillant once in our own lifetime genius. Give peace a chance...imagine...the soundtrack of hope.

John lennon - Imagine DVD
This DVD is fantastic. This is a definitive insight in to the legend that is John Lennon. Starting off with the inception of the Beatles all the way through to his tragic murder in 1980 this documentary shows every aspect of his life from his life with Yoko, his political activities, his hiatus from public life in the mid 1970's to look after his little boy and of course his musical journey. To me this is a definitive film that anybody interested in, not just John Lennon, but one of the greatest icons of the 20th century. With interviews with the man himself, Yoko, Sean and his aunt for whom he grew up with and of course all of his interviews given during his life this is fascinating, intruiging and quite moving all the way through. To me John Lennon is a legend and his music both with the Beatles and his solo career will stand the test of time for many many years to come. This film is true testament to one of the greatest men of the 20th century and i cant recommend it enough. Five Stars!!!!!
