EPC and 4G Packet Networks: Driving the Mobile Broadband Revolution

This is a reliable and thorough reference for everything at the core of the mobile network. I advise nine of the top ten mobile carriers in the world on how they should build out their mobile core and consider this to be one of my two working reference bibles.This has become a company reference standard. The company has never endorsed it, but I see it on more and more desks and I see it referenced and quoted by our engineers regularly. If you read the 3GPP Standards and the ANSI and ITU standards, this ties everything together and helps you to make sense of it all on a macro level, how it all fits together.

This is a textbook on the details of cellphone networks. It is concerned more with the land-based data communication and control portions of these facilities than with the radio links connecting to the individual telephones. The book is just the proper introduction for those of us who may be familiar with computers and data networking. The authors do an excellent job with the abbreviations. These are different than the alphabet soup encountered in computer applications or telephony of the Alexander Graham Bell sort. Reading this book enables one to understand specifications for cellular networks. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the workings of mobile data networks.

It was a great book and I enjoyed reading it. Very well organised and categorised which make finding any information inside it and easy task.However I found it a bit difficult to learn from it since it's more like a reference book that you should have in your library.

Excellent discussion of the Evolved packet core..highly recommend along with the latest book on the 5G Core-one of the authors, Olsson is an author on that work also.

If you need more than an introduction to the EPC this is the right book.It is well organised and complete. Finding a specific information is easy.This book provides a high level view of this complex matter plus detailed descriptions and call flows of each topic.

I am still reading it, but it brings all the concepts in a very clear way. So far, excellent.

Excellent encyclopedic book about modern mobile network.It's helpful addition to 3GPP standards.Both newcomer and professional can find a lot of information.

Good book and it gives you a good introduction to 4G packet core. It is also brilliant as a reference - just dive in and go straight to the chapter you have questions about. Buy it if you are a contractor and do not get paid for training courses!This book has been written by the same bunch of people who wrote a similar book about IMS - I am impressed!
