Like batteries that don't work? This is the one you've been waiting for!
It's no secret that Nikon charges a premium for their products, as both my bank account and collection of Nikon gear can readily attest. So when it came time for me to buy a spare battery to supplement the anemic life of Nikon's own OEM battery for my Z50, I was looking to pinch a few pennies, hoping to save some for many delicious seafood restaurants down in the Outer Banks where I was planning on shooting wildlife.I suppose I could at least credit the battery for lasting the duration of my trip back in April, but when I attempted to use the battery in my Z50 this morning, the camera simply shrugged. Actually, it didn't even do that, as it was drawing no power from the battery whatsoever. No problem, I thought. I'll pop it in the charger and soon after all would be well. It wasn't. The second I plugged it in the wall socket, the light on the charger began flashing, only noticeably more quickly than normal. After leaving it in the charger for a few more minutes - which I wouldn't recommend doing if you notice your charger acting strangely - I stuck it back in the camera, switched it on, and again, nothing. It was officially dead.I want to sternly admonish Kastar for, based on other reviews here, knowingly selling an unreliable product, but I think Nikon also shares a portion of the blame for issuing their own battery; a battery which not only hemorrhages power when in use, but also one where Nikon has the audacity to charge seventy frickin' dollars for it, pushing people to take their chances on options like this.In any case, if you absolutely must have supplemental power for your Z50, bite the bullet and buy the official battery. Everyone else, consider yourselves warned.

Seems to function the same as original nikon
Charges, fits, and powers my z50. Unsure of longevity. OEM is nearly unobtainable right now. This works well enough for the time being.

Lasted only 14 months.
Bought this battery to use with the Z50, it only lasted 14 months. It was charged around 5-10 times using the official Nikon charger. No issues with the Nikon battery. As you can see there is no damage or swelling with this Kastar battery. The battery is dead in the camera and when I put it in the charger the charge lights blinks very rapidly indicating a fault (not the slow blinking of a charging battery).Better to buy the more expensive Nikon battery once than waste money on these disposable, short lived, third-party batteries.

Aftermarket battery
I haven’t used it yet but this small battery came in a box much too big for it.

Battery went bad in a year and a half.
initially the battery worked just as well as the original Nikon battery. However, after a year and a half, it stopped working and when I plugged it into the charger, I got the rapid orange flashing lights message. I was unable to make it work even after removing it an placing it back in the charger. So, it's not worth the money. I will try another third party brand now.
