Durable and comfortable
My newest go-to hammer as a mechanic. It isn’t a dead blow, but I like the bounce for repeated striking. Excellent value compared to anything on the tool truck, extremely durable solid steel construction, and I’ve never hurt my hand or wrist thanks to the comfort grip. I’ve recommended estwing hammers to all of my friends, and that thin handle has stood up to me hitting with the cheek of the hammer more times than I can count.

Great value for a hammer you'll use more than you imagine
This Estwing B3-3LB hammer measures 11" long and its head is 4" wide, so the picture shows the 4-lb. hammer. No problem, as this B3-3LB is the same blue-coated hammer you'll find in Estwing's catalog. If you need heft around the house, you will use a 3-lb. hammer more than you think. A 4-lb. hammer -- such as the 48-oz. Estwing Engineer's hammer -- is more specific to splitting and punching through large objects, and thus too much for many jobs, whereas a smaller 2-lb. hammer doesn't carry enough punch for shaping brick and stones. This Estwing B3-3LB can punch through plywood walls and bend steel truck bumpers back into shape while also driving stakes in the yard. Its softly contoured edge won't leave a harsh dent in metal. As others have noted, Estwing takes great care in their handle design. What looks simple is shaped and textured not only to fit your hand comfortably in gloves, but textured to keep the hammer from slipping upon impact. You'll enjoy it for a lifetime, but keep the old hammer around to loan out to friends and family; an Estwing should never leave home!
