Baritone Ukulele Songbook: 100 All Time Classics

One of the best I’ve seen!
I’ve been learning to play uke over the past couple of years, and have purchased many instruction and beginning song books. When I decided to add a baritone uke to my repertoire because of its similar tuning to a 6 string guitar, I bought this songbook. I like it better than most beginning books. It has a great selection of songs, and the arrangements are better than some of the oversimplified or abbreviated versions in other books. The melodies and chords are displayed clearly. There is a tab line for those who want it. If you are a beginning baritone player, I recommend this book highly.

Old style but very simple
I am a player who has a very poor memory, making it challenging for me to play an instrument with more than four strings, or a song with more than a few chords. These may not be the coolest songs in the world (some humorously dated), but this book comes correct to represent a nice slice of the songs most considered folk standards. There are enough themed songs here for a kid or reasonable ambition to create their own Christmas presentation for their immediate family in the living room. If you want to do that, and you have a baritone ukelele, this book will give you I think around five songs like that or ones with similar religious themes. There are equally as many in Irish themes, for your old school bar sing-along type classics. You will also find just a couple which slipped from old school into a the rock cannon, including Scarborough Fair and House of the Rising Sun. I am here to tell you that I am a very poor player of very little ambition with this instrument, and I am totally capable of playing every one of these songs that I have tried so far. This is an encouraging book if you love the baritone ukelele but you don't necessarily have a knack for it. This has the diagrams of the chords on the same page as each song. That's really all that any of us really need, right?

Easy enough for a beginner. Nice assortment of songs.
I bought this book to have a handy resource for my Blueridge BR-40T Tenor guitar. It has been very handy to help with giving me easy arrangements, chord diagrams, and TAB for a nice assortment of familiar songs.I am an advanced beginner guitarist and started gcea tuned ukulele in March, so the DGBE tuning for my tenor guitar isn’t wholly unfamiliar. That being said having a book has given me a great starting point to be able to play around and become familiar with my instrument as I learn theory from other resources.I highly recommend for the recreational player like myself who wants chords and TaB to be able to quickly start playing!I originally gave 4 stars because there are some typos in the lyrics and a few omitted chord diagrams (the chord is written into the song but not diagramed on the song page with the others), but the value of what I did get in this book out weighs the omissions. Hopefully the editor or author will catch and correct them in a future edition.I would love to see additional books in this style, price point and for this tuning offered!

Great book with chords and musical notation
Love the variety of songs. Yes you can find most of these somewhere online for free but I like having a real music book with the musical notation and chord diagrams. This book has useful tips for chord fingerings for beginners. I think it is great! I probably own over a hundred different music books for three different instruments (piano, guitar and ukulele). I wish it had been available as a spiral bound type, but that is easily remedied with a trip to Kinkos or similar copy store that can rebind the book. I am definitely enjoying playing the old favorites from this book.

Easy to use
Was hoping for more folk songs. Had older, traditional songs, many unfamiliar.

Good tabs, bad range for singing
This has lots of traditional songs songs well written tab notation. However, they took songs arranged for concert pitch ukulele and kept the same fingering, so if a song was to start on middle c, it now starts on g making it either very high or very low to sing along with. Nice book, poor execution for singing. (A capo can help)

Perfect for a raw beginner.
Each song includes chord diagrams, tablature, and regular staff notation. This book is exactly what I needed!

OK book, songs are mainly of the 'Traditional' genre.
This book is OK. However, most of these are very much similar classic songs that most ukulele players will already have. What I call "She'll be coming round the mountain"-type songs. (Yes, that one IS in this book). There are some better songs in there, and I like the Tab diagrams beneath the stave which make it easy to pick out the tune - a handy way to ensure you sing in the right key and in tune is to pick out the first few notes before you start. The chord diagrams and strumming patterns etc will be a great help to many, I'm sure. Like most baritone uke players, I progressed to the baritone uke after first becoming competent with a soprano uke, but this book would be OK for someone who is starting with baritone as their first uke. I'd have liked more 'pop and country classics', the sort of thing that would go down better at open mic nights. But that said, a song list is given in the description of this book. The lack of many pop classics is why I'm not giving five stars.

Great Value!
This Baritone Ukulele book is great value compared to similar music books, most of which are disappointing and overpriced! The author even includes useful tips, masses of extra chord diagrams and very useful instructions on Strumming methods too. Great value for money.

It's OK but...
...it would be much better if the songs that are in this book as well as the book for the soprano/concert.tenor ukulele were in the same key.

Most tunes are easy to play.
Very USA orientated songs, but well set out, and a wide variety of tunes.
