MR ROGERS WAS REALLY WHO HE PORTRAYED ON TV.
What a lovely genuine wonderful caring man of God? I was one of those few people who never saw a full episode of his show, yet I was one of the many people who poked fun at his dress sense, his calming voice, his catchphrases.. but I am ashamed of myself for being so judgemental. i now know he was a terrific soul who loved children in the best sense of the word and strived to teach them every day to love themselves, not be afraid of feelings , to be accepting of all people and all nationalities and orientations. he should have been canonized.. but he isn’t Catholic too bad.

"I LIKE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE" -- transforming motto!
INTRIGUING AND INSPIRING – that’s the life of Mister Rogers who shared his gentle spirit and caring-for-everyone approach to life, especially life in a child’s neighborhood. In his words: “This is what I give. I give an expression of care every day to each child, to help him realize that he is unique.”Although this book is short, it pinpoints the reasons and highlights of this exceptional TV character and the reasons why he is the way he is. He had a dream to make television, especially children’s programs, innocent and gentle, using curiosity and rapport more than frenetic plots and actions that we see too much of today in children's entertainment.I love the way he ended each program: “You've made this day a special day, by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you; and I like you just the way you are.” When we adults treat the world that way, especially the youngsters, we will influence our communities for the better as he did. This is a well-planned book that will inspire those who care for others. I recommend it.

An enjoyable read for those of us who fondly recall time with Mr Rogers' Neighborhood
“This is what I give. I give an expression of care every day to each child, to help him realize that he is unique. I end the program by saying, 'You've made this day a special day, by just your being you. There's no person in the whole world like you; and I like you just the way you are.' And I feel that if we in public television can only make it clear that feelings are mentionable and manageable, we will have done a great service for mental health.” – Fred RogersEveryone felt welcome and appreciated when they turned in to Mr Rogers' Neighborhood. Discovering Fred Rogers studied Child Psychology comes as no surprise to me, the shows always felt so finely tuned in that level to me as a kid, it was actually his Music background that intrigued me... he always made the music seem so natural and second nature.
